Unlikely, I've never heard of them making one.

The original TMNT issue IS the Daredevil tie-in parody . The "young guy gets blinded by toxic goop while pushing a blindman out of the way of a runaway truck" part of the origin is Daredevil himself. Eastman and Laird just added a kid dropping his pet turtles into the sewer as part of the chaos of that moment.
The Foot is even a parody of the Hand criminal sect in Daredevil. I've heard of weirder superheroes they could be tied to, but at least it wasn't Aquaman??? (Okay, I might actually want to see the universe where they're tied to Aquaman...just for fun)

Homage. The word you're both dancing around is homage.
Though I personally prefer the word spoof, myself. Especially given the dedication to Frank Miller as inside cover art.

Lot of good points in this thread. I've only read the first issue cover to cover (which I liked), and then bits and pieces of other issues (definitely a mixed bag, but what isn't). I hope I come across one of the collected editions at the library because I can't justify spending money on them until I know a little bether how I feel about the Mirage run as a whole |

never mind about the satire part, double checking where I found it from. It's incorrect that satire comes from plays that was done straight, bt the cast was dressed as satyrs. Which is kinda sad that it's not true. :/
TMNT's tie to Frank Miller's run in Daredevil is very superficial. The Foot have very little in common with The Hand, and the origin while similar, we never see "Matt" again. Last edited by Candy Kappa; 04-01-2016 at 01:57 PM. |

Be sure to check out their digital offerings as well. Depending on the system they might have them as e-books. I've friends who've used their local inter-library loan desk to read the last 15-20 years work of Marvel back issues as a way to save money while also avoiding the local color at their nearest comic shop.

Why would we see him again? Eastman and Laird's comic focuses on the Turtles from that scenario, not the boy who went blind. It's really just a neat little easter egg, a reference to a comic property of which they were fans

TMNT was based on everything that was popular at the time:
- Teenagers. Teenage superheroes are always popular as seen with X-men, Teen Titans, or teens in general. - Mutants. Again, X-men and mutants have always been popular. - Ninja's. Everyone has always found ninja's cool, ninjitsu and martial arts are always incredibly popular with western fans. Asian culture has influenced the U.S. heavily. - Turtles. Well, this is what they are. |

And also Frank Miller's run on Daredevil, which was very popular at the time.

If and when I get around to buying the Mirage material, it'll be the first time I've spent money on comics in years. It's all about the library.
...except for Ms. Marvel, which one of my eighth graders lets me borrow whenever a new trade is released. |

Well let's put it like this, while there is a lot creativity and passion behind Mirage's material it's kind of hard to deny that a lot of it feels like a web comic. I probably admire Mirage more than I enjoy it, not that I don't enjoy it but the flaws are too big to ignore.

I'm old and cynical enough now that I know that sometimes though, you don't want more people to like your thing you like, because then it gets dumbed down! If this applies strongly to Mirage fans or not you can decide for yourself, heh.

It's old and cynical if you feel that way because you've seen it happen too many times, haha.
