I was talking about Be Kind, Rewind, but clever nonetheless.

Beowulf - Director's Cut
It's that realistic CGI (supposed to make you think it's actually people you're looking at). If I didn't have a previously existing interest in the mythological character, I really wouldn't have minded never having seen this Shoot 'Em Up I was under the mistaken impression that this movie was supposed to be halfway serious. It was good, cheesey fun though.

I love Will Ferrell....this one didn't do it for me. Sure there were some great parts, but there was just so many unnecessary things. I hate to say it but this act is gettin bland and I usually defend it. Just can't anymore after seeing this. I guess it just took me longer to get bored with it. Glad this his last sport film. |

Watched the Boris Karloff film Corridors of Blood last night and I liked it. I thought the concept was neat.
Later, I watched Puppet Master and it was alright. There were some good kills and I liked the mystery element.

My mother got me The Good Thief from a bargain bin somewhere. I was actually shocked to learn this isn't a Direct-to-DVD movie.

Futurama: Bender's Big Score
It was good. Not as joke-packed as something like The Simpsons film; not quite as funny as I remember the show being. But it had a nice dizzying time travel plot and it's always nice to see the old characters back. Blood Diamond Fantastic film. Didn't lapse for a single minute of its substantial running time either. I can't believe this didn't win any Oscars. |

Just caught a bit of Batman Forever on TV. I can only assume this is some kind of absurdist satire of modern cinema.

It's a film that definitely divides people. I actually started out not really 'getting it' and not finding it that funny, but on second viewing I thought it was hilarious. I like how it's a 'high school comedy' but isn't like those crappy ones everyone normally goes to see and how it doesn't really have much of a narrative drive to it either.

Watched 12 Angry Men yesterday, which was great. It had some funny moments and I liked how each character had their own personality.
Later, I watched the director's cut of Beowulf with my dad and I enjoyed it. There was lots of action and I didn't seem to mind the CGI.

I saw Spiderwick then snuck into Penelope.
Spiderwick was cool. It was a nice family film with good acting and nice imagination. Penelope was ok. Not much to say about it. Typical love story about an ugly girl trying to make it on her own. |

I saw Across the Universe the other night. It was kind of a bland love story set to a terrible mash-up of bad Beatles covers.

Be Kind Rewind
It was quite good. I'm not usually a fan of Jack Black so much, but in this he is very good. I love their version of Ghostbusters and Rush Hour 2. It's also strange seeing such a feelgood film for a change. I think I've been watching a lot of very dramatic films and even the ones that aren't so, even contain downer elements (or are just bad). |
