Ninja Turtles German DVD.

Anyone know any sites that will ship the German Ninja Turtles special edition to The U.S?

Talk to gobo, he's the one who helped me get mine. He can help you figure out where he ordered them from, and maybe if you can interest several people in getting the flick too, you can cut down the shipping cost.

Ah just go to Germany and buy it in a store like I did.

Got it from here. Felt super weird going into a store in another country and buying a turtles DVD.

This version of the movie is whacked too. There's all kinds of goofy sound effects during the fights and it'll randomly change to the English version with subtitles for the scenes they cut from the original release. I also swear there's a few extra bits during some of the fight scenes that I don't recall from the normal American release.

Honestly though Jester is right. Gobo bought it online so I'd ask him.

Maybe it's because I watched it solely for the Barron commentary that I didn't notice this...

It's pretty awful. It seriously changes the mood of all the fight scenes. The part where Shredder dies is especially awful.

Whoa. Steve Barron commentary? Maybe I do have to buy this.

Shipping cost from Germany is a pain in the rear, though. Might be nice to do a team effort and order a couple copies at once and have the receiver ship out to the other person.

Thanks for the info. I figured Shipping would be expensive. Would anyone who has the dvd say its worth it for the commentary because that is mostly the reason I'm looking into getting it.

It's pretty cool and it has a lot of insight on the making of the actual film. He doesn't go off on random tangents and keeps it about turtles. He explains a lot about and it gives you a pretty good idea of how the production went. How the costumes worked, where they shot, that kind of thing. I'd say it's pretty worth it.

It's also worth it to see the whacky version of the film with all it's crazy circus sound effects during the fights. Also as I mentioned I'm pretty sure it has some little bits that weren't in the US release. Which I assume happened to make up for the cut scenes, one of which was when Splinter says his big line at the end of all things.

I'll ship a DVD anywhere in the continental US for $25. I think I'll be breaking even, in that case.

Is the $25 shipping only or does that cover the price of the dvd?

That's the DVD, but it's PAL and apparently Region 2-locked. Meaning, if you were to play it on a DVD player in the States, the player would have to be region-free and be able to convert a PAL signal to NTSC.

There are computer programs that will play the DVD, though.

I got my copy from gobo today. It's possible he has one or two left to sell.

If you give him that much time to procrastinate, you'll be fine.
Spoiler:
All right, seriousness time... I bought an order of 5 to cut down shiping charges to redistribute to fellow fans and sell the extras on eBay. So, 25 is what I spend on doing this. But, if you wanna gimme more, I won't refuse it.

Just know that the main movie is sort of a compilation of the US and international versions spliced together, then added commentary by director Steve Barron. So, the extra scenes are actually an extra feature (unless insignificant changes are your thing ). Also, the two 'deleted scenes' are only in German. The extended ending is only English, but with place-holder voices for the Turtles.

Also, yes, I have one left.
