Last few might end up being shuffled a bit.

Saw your conversation about Annual 2022 placement in Issue 131 thread and would like to suggest to push it even further down the line right after Issue 117.

I understand, that it's strange to read Annual 2022 before Annual 2021 and there is no way for IDW team to fit it into 15th Collection, but by the end of the day it doesn't matter - what matters is the better reading experience.

So here are my reasons:

• Season. In Issues 124 and 125 it's full blown snowy winter, while in Annual 2022 it's more like late summer/early fall. I know, that nature always depends on the artist, and we shouldn't pay attention to these details, but we are talking about better reading experience, and significant changes in seasons are a distraction.
• Anniversary. I know it's a stretch, but a good one in my eyes. If City at War happened late summer/early fall, then this placement will make this issue something of an anniversary of Splinter's death, which would be a good reason for turtles to seek some closure at this exact moment.
• Narrative. Issue 117 ends with Shredder's monologue with this line: "They still need their time to grieve their father and master". And to read next thing the issue, that 100% of that, is just a great transition. Also, we would have back-to-back stories about Classic Four comes in terms with their past and then Jennika does nearly the same. Thematic consistency.

Also, it's too early to predict, but I believe FCBD 2022 happens after Opening Moves and training two-parter, cause it looks like an actual opening move, unlike eponymous mini, and should trigger some reaction from good guys, which we don't see yet.

Edited the list slightly as having reread the last couple of arcs I think Annual'22 would fit better between 132 and AG1, like dealing with some last demons before the big fight. It also fits with Shargor's comments regarding the seasons and Splinter elements better too.

FCBD'22 is much trickier though and it's continuity is kinda fudged thanks to Venus' losing her frog arm in #130 and growing a turtle one in #133 even though the FCBD issue shows her to still have a frog arm and there aren't any gaps between #128 and #130 that it could fit into.

Looks like The Armageddon Game #2 has cleared a continuity issue with FCBD '22, stating that these events have happened a month ago (fake turtles have been created already then). I guess, that's exactly the same time Venus had escaped, that Dr. Barlow mentioned and Punk Frog had witnessed. So it should be after Annual 2021 and before #125.

No that doesn't work; Venus had her frog arm and braid in the FCBD issue but doesn't get her limbs until #129 and doesn't get the braid until after she's lost the frog arm at the end of #130.
AG2 does however help solidify it being before OM1-2 though so I guess the arm is just going to be an unfortunate continuity kink as the change of arm hadn't been thought out that far ahead. (FCBD'22 was being written and drawn at least 6 months ahead of #130)

It's not stated, that she hadn't her limbs until #129.

What's stated in #128 is that she has been butchered (complete body reconstruction into something more like a turtle) after or during revival process. In #129 Dr. Barlow mentions, that he had to remove her limbs, so she wouldn't be able to escape again, but "he's trusting her this time". I don't see any mention, that these limbs are new and not those that were removed to not let her escape.

So she has overcome complete reconstruction (though some original parts were used, cause Barlow didn't have enough materials) after or during a revival in the pursuit to make a doppelganger, but was deemed a failure. Then she escaped, saw fake turtles and was later returned to the lab. Then Barlow removed her limbs as a precaution. I guess then she has overcome some kind of mind overhaul, because after that Barlow was ready to trust her again, that's why he returned her limbs back.

As for the braid, we saw, that she had it on the astral plane, so it's not a long stretch to guess, that she had it earlier and just recreated after the escape.

I've checked with Sophie and FCBD is meant to be between the two arcs where I've placed it and the arm inconsistency is just a continuity snafu caused by a late change to the plot.

Well, then I hope, they could fix it in trades. If we don't count the cover, it's just on two panels on the solid background, so it doesn't look like "hand removal" will require much effort.

Not that I really care, but for my own OCD’s sake: has there been any easily definable winter/Christmas seasons since 101? I have #90 being the start of a new year since the Raph macro was a Christmas tale. Just trying to keep my format going.

Also, dropped IDW 20/20. Seems to me like that is officially non-canon at this point.

I feel like we need a reading order for everything not currently in canon haha.

No there's also a six month time skip during #101 (and a calendar on January in #102) at which time there's snow everywhere.
There was a brief discussion of this on the previous page of this thread but the rough estimates were July/ August for City at War and the first few pages of #101, January - March for the rest of #101 - 105 and the 2020 Annual takes place during the timeskip.

So 90 - 101 are a year, then 101 - 124 and finally 125 to current.

It's not entirely clear yet, but right now my running assumption is Armageddon Game 8 > Annual 2023 > #140 - #150 > Usagi Yojimbo Where/When 1-5
