June, 2023, though? Yeesh. Why would this take longer than Black Adam to make? This should've already come out, or at least been in the can even before the "pandemic" hit.

That was one of my biggest issues with the first one, especially the ending when they popped the cork on the entire Marvel Family. I dug that, but I was like, "Well, they better start shooting the sequel like, Tomorrow, or else all of these kid actors are gonna be too old to come back."

Such is always the risk when doing any movie with a lot of young actors in the cast.

I think part of the delay was in part because, for all the glowing reviews and "Finally! A FUN DC movie!" stuff, it didn't actually make much money. Like, let's be honest, $366 million is pitiful for a super-hero movie. They "only" spent $100 million on it, so technically they came out ahead, barely, but still... you know that WB wanted/expected a LOT better returns considering how strongly they positioned it as DC's "Marvel Movie", all light and "fun" and family-friendly and whatnot. After marketing costs, they maybe only broke even, possibly. So one would think that if it made more money, the sequel might have come out sooner, but instead they had to go back to the drawing board for "retooling", to try and figure out just what they did "wrong".

Then again, Aquaman made a billion dollars and they dragged their feet on THAT sequel, too. So maybe WB is just run by drunken chimps who don't know what the f*ck they're doing.

THAT, I can absolutely believe.

I'm a huge fan of a lot of the properties they own, but as a COMPANY? Oof. Drizzling sh*ts.

The kids who grew up with the Saban Entertainment have "Power Rangered" everything as a method of life-operating. Of course there's precedent for the "Shazam family" but that feature only made this I.P. juicier for today's kids-turned-consumer.

Just an observation as to the greater pop-culture zeitgeist and wear it's roots lay. There can be no singular super-hero for everyone is already a unique and special flower and everything is just a mantel that is waiting for you to be inserted into. Congrats!

The first Shazam flick was entertaining and had a few heartstring moments. Watched it once - it was fine. Sort of expect about the same from this one.

From now on I need you guys to warn me in advance if there's Eminem on the trailer soundtrack so I know not to click it.

So okay, that looks pretty awful, but so did the original one which the trailers misrepresented by making it look like wall-to-wall batsh*t comedy, and the movie was actually a lot more balanced which was nice. So I guess it's not out of the realm of possibility that the actual movie might be good even with a lousy trailer. As of right now, I don't wanna see it.

Although Mary Marvel looks pretty f*cking hot and I'm generally a pretty big fan. Hmmm.

Admittedly, I did mark out when they did the whole Marvel Family in the first movie, but seeing how this one is going full-on into that, I think it was a mistake going there so soon and I agree with a lot of what IMJ said. It's like we barely spend any time with "just" Captain Marvel (BITE me, that's his f*cking name) and he's already sharing time with a whole entire ensemble. Doesn't really do a lot to build HIM up, and I'm concerned with the trailer's entire narrative being about what a loser he is. That's... not the character.

Also... no follow-up whatsoever for the Mr. Mind tease at the end of the first-one, I'm guessing? Just full-on "Forget about it, you never saw it, we're moving on" like it's the MCU? Huh. I mean I get that it's a pretty silly villain but why even go there in the first place, then? Oh, WB, you and your pathetic lack of forward planning.

I don't know. Looks like sh*t but so did the first one, and the first one turned out okay. Guess we'll see, but it's not grabbing me at all.

It's going to end up like the Venom movies. What's the point, if no Spider-Man? And with the Gunn verse starting... what're the odds they're going to really keep this guy around as Shazam and those kids as the kids? The guy looks like a skinny 60 year-old now and those kids look 25-30 years-old already.

The short Shazam comic that came out the same year by Geoff Johns would have been a perfect story to adapt for the films
