I never really told anyone this, but ...
I have severe body angst. Generally, I wished my body was healthier (whiter teeth, moister hair, ECT.). I feel like I'm a loser when it comes to my body's average condition. -PK Last edited by Papenbrook; 03-19-2018 at 03:21 PM. |

Something I'm sure most people can relate to on some level...
Gedmatch.com, DNA genealogy site... among the list of related matches and the names/nicknames listed, apparently I'm related to a Casey Jones on my dad's side. (And looks to be just 6 months younger than me... Wish I could ask them how the Turtles are since they're the right age to get it. lol) |

I can't believe that of all the toys these cats could possibly be enraptured with, it's the dozens of tiny rubber ducks my brother brought home.
So you can imagine how that goes at night. Pretty soon the house will be like tracking Friendly Floatees.

Lol, my cat Angel is a rubber duck "killer" too! She frequently decimates the row of duckies on the edge of the bathtub by jumping in and out of it when she's "on a tear". She goes streaking through the apartment and jumps in the tub, knocking them off and chasing her tail, batting them around, etc.

Yeah, my brother had them left out on the kitchen table for them to get access to easily.
I don't think they'd have much interest in the 'big duck'...which is just the water squirter where they're dressed as something. That particular one is a wrestler. It's fun to circle the little ducks around it like they're worshiping it

Mr D sort of collects them, we have over 120 total, most of them in the bathroom. And only two of them are duplicates. We get some interesting comments when guests who have never been here before come over and see our "flock".

Well...that would probably explain the "duckie" part of the names

Lol, actually, it's because I MARRIED a "Duck"! (No, really. It's our last name.) But, yeah, he totally plays with the name- see above collection. And I originally used the screenname when I was a member/mod on the Marvel forums. (A play on our name, with a dual nod to Ms. Marvel, who is my fave female Marvel character, and Howard the Duck.) I jokingly sugggested adding part of my maiden name to his on the marriage license to make it McDuck, but he nixed the idea.....

Making and baking French dinner rolls is extremely difficult and stressfully tiring.

What is the logic in the weather being bad enough to close schools for the day, "But come on kids, pile into the car and lets go shopping!"
Kind of annoying to see them show up at my store, hyper kids in tow. Either stay home or get back to class... >.> (So much for hoping for a quiet time at work, but at least we closed at 2pm and got to go home.) |

I'm jealous of countries that have "snow days", we don't have that in Norway. Like, you can be excused from being a half hour late to school if there's like 10 feet of snow and the roads haven't been cleared of snow, if not there's no excuse of being late.
When I was studying in the UK, the whole university was closed with 2 inch of snow, The whole town was in chaos and trains had derailed. The only people meeting up was us Norwegians befuddled on why it was all empty and no lights on |

Ah, so the UK is basically the long lost sister of the U.S. southeast. (Or south in general in the rare case of snow.) They get two inches and all hell breaks loose. But I can kind of understand since in their case they don't have all the plows, state funded stockpiles of salt and sand, etc that we do. Does the UK not get snow that often?
For my area, a couple of inches would be nothing here. Too often we get that instead of anything big and everyone is disappointed because school or work goes on uninterpreted. We don't tend to close down unless it's snowing at a heavy enough rate that the plow trucks can't keep the roadways safe enough. You Norwegians though, I dunno, you guys are a different breed if you can get a ton and go on no problem. More like our upper Midwest folks that get a lot and seem to look at other states similarly. (Though those states have a lot more rural areas that can probably just live around it better while we're stuck trying to get most of it out of the way.) I'm just glad that after 4 1/2 hours after coming home my Jeep is apparently still warm enough that the snow still has yet to pile up on it again, so maybe I won't have to worry about clearing it off the soft top. (The thick layer of sleet and ice this morning and several inches of snow after work, after four hours, were enough...) Last edited by IndigoErth; 03-21-2018 at 04:47 PM. |

The more I learn about the relationship between CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien, the more convinced I become that The Chronicles of Narnia was partially written to tease Tolkien.
I mean...considering that their friendship almost ended over The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe...

Small world- just found out that a long-time friend we have known since high school literally just moved into the same neighborhood as our little duckling. In Iowa. He is two blocks from them. Now he wants to meet them since he never saw her when she lived down here. So cool! Proof that the universe has a quirky sense of humor.....

Ha, sounds like how my boyfriend lives a few houses down from my mom's college roommate.
Close enough that when her own adopted daughter tried to dash off to see her boyfriend in another town, she tried use my boyfriend's mom for a ride. And thus, my mom and I were employed to aid in the snitching.

Officially been a year since anxiety breakdown while driving. what should have been a half hour trip, turned into almost 2 hours and I barely went 3 miles.
thanks to some new medication, that I apparently should have been perscribed when I was diagnosed with OCD and anxiety in 2004...I've all but gotten the short trips back in order. I'm no longer scared of messing something up going to something as simple as the gas station or the food store. Longer trips that require more concentration are a bit tougher. my mind wanders far too much these days. I'm fine with someone in the car, or following me. but on my own is still spotty. ugh. who says life gets better past the 'wonder years?' smh.
