We know Jennika won't get de-mutated for a long time if ever. They didn't promote a new female Turtle just to undo it in a few months time or even a year.

So they skipped the fugatoid issue in volume 1?
Or the tales issues in volume 2? I don’t understand why can’t the make a good enough and comprehensive enough of a collection for mirage like they do in the idw collection |

Vol 2 issues don't have the original colors, they have been recolored. IDW thought the original colors were not good enough.

I thought it might have been that the color plates were lost, which was what happened to the colors for the Mirage-era Usagi Yojimbo. |

So IDW is officially Volume 5 now? Damn I was hoping we might get an issue earlier next month, but at least things are scheduled to release again.

Yes, Vol. V is my designation of the current series but that's pretty controversial. As long as the title stays current and being published, it can be referenced as "TMNT Ongoing." But, at some point, it will no longer be "Ongoing" so you'll have to title it with some other designation.

I mean, why not Volume 5? That's how many other comics tend to be labled, regardless of whether or not they share continuity with each other. TMNT Volume 3 and 4 are examples of this happening within this franchise.

It gets kind of complicated...partly because some view "Volumes" as needing to be within canon/continuity (which is totally acceptable but not how I regard it) and partly because of how past TMNT comics were titled/regarded. The main culprit in all the disagreement (in my opinion) is the Dreamwave TMNT series from 2003 which, if you look at it purely from a publishing order perspective, actually is the fifth "TMNT" series. The seven issues in that Dreamwave series were published while Mirage Vol. IV was still being published (a couple years into it) AND it was officially titled with a Volume I designation - meaning we now had TWO Volume I's - Mirage and Dreamwave - but they weren't canon to each other. Plus, many (including Peter Laird I think) totally disregard the Dreamwave series in any shape or form and basically prefer to ignore it. However, in a database, it must be somehow addressed and so I leave it as TMNT Vol. I since that's how it was titled when issued. So, I suppose I could re-title the Dreamwave series "Vol. V" and the IDW series "Vol. VI" (which I considered back when IDW started) but that didn't seem right. Plus, that wouldn't really fix any of the issues where some of the volumes prior to Dreamwave aren't considered canon to each other and some would still say only certain TMNT series' should be regarded as Volumes and others just as "IDW TMNT", "Image TMNT", etc. I try to also adhere to how the previous TMNT titles have become widely recognized (specifically Volumes I-IV). Anyway, I hope that helps. |
