NECA 1987 2-Pack Collection at Target

Are the Usagi and Neutrinos that go up for preorder tomorrow exclusive to NECA's site? Or will they be avail at Target down the line?

It was never really specified but I would assume they will both hit Target eventually like all the others minus the mousers which they did say was online online...for now

My TiD came yesterday. So far I've only had time to take Mikey out of the package aaaaand he's a mixed bag. The head is matte while the rest of the body is shiny. The head has a shiny spot on the nose and a couple on top of the head. The left shoulder is completely stuck, as is the elbow. Neither of the legs will turn out/in, so he's stuck looking like he has to pee. I'll be taking a hair dryer to him later today, but geez. You gotta love paying for something, waiting 9 months, and then getting a mess of quality control in return. I can only imagine the other turtles will be the same. I guess I'll count it as a win as long as I have all of the correct accessories and body parts.

If you email them and send photos they'll have you return the entire set (because they're morons where the right arm of distribution has no idea what the left arm of returns is doing) and then they'll mail you a new set once they get it. Odds are 50/50 that they'll provide you a return label vs expecting you to pay for it yourself; if they don't then reply and ask them what kind of customer service doesn't pay for the return of a defective item and then they'll send you one.

NECA put a "Pay in 4 installments" option on the Usagi and Neutrino pre-order whereby they will charge your card 4 times - once every two weeks.

I respect the hell out of that. It's not a perfect solution by any means, but that tells me that they are offering a protracted charge system possibly in response to our conversation a few pages back about our held funds while waiting for merchandise.

Personally, a better solution would be maybe to take 1/3 payment up front and then 2/3 when fulfilled or a perfect solution would be to simply charge us once the merchandise arrives for shipping.

But still - it's something. It's close to a "token measure" but still - a responsive one at least.

That really sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I found someone on eBay selling TiD Leo (seems they're selling all their TiD turtles separately except Michelangelo who they're presumably keeping) with all the correct face options, so I'm begrudgingly just going with that. Granted, now I'm gonna have two Leos, too, on top of spending more money, but... eh, at least the money isn't going to NECA this time.

I gotta say, between having accessories break out of the package, joints that are so tight they feel like they were glued shut, and now this... it's kinda getting harder and harder to wanna support this company. I'm beside myself, because I still want to keep collecting these figures, but I really do hate that I keep getting burned like this.

I'm hoping it's toon colors TID without the accessories. But I'm guessing it'll be style guide colors.

Some of the sizes are really off, but I guess that starts with how short they made April, when she should be taller. I'm still hoping the rumors of that fixed April Ultimate release are true.

I believe you are correct. It's the TiD figures but in the style guide colors and (presumably) with way fewer accessories.

It's just the disguise turtles/heads in the same dark green as the original release, without the masks/trench coats and with other accessories swapped out.

The lighting might be making them look darker, but those are definitely the style guide colors. It's most apparent with the way the belt buckles are colored, as well as how much more contrast Leo, Don, and Raph have between their skin and their designated bandana colors.

Correct. The dark green turtles/TiD are MUCH darker.

Hmm. I'll give you the belts, so that's interesting. But they look pretty dark in all 3 photos we've seen now (background of that video, the shelf pic above, and that instagram post)... Maybe these ones are somewhere in between? Because the original style guide turtles were much, much brighter.

I really think it's just the lighting. In each case, they're in shadow and you can also tell the yellow on the box is darker than usual, and I don't see why they'd suddenly darken that. They're definitely a lot lighter than the TID set. I'd put money on them being style guide color. Especially since the Turtles in the Ace Duck product shots were exactly what we're expecting with these — TID molds, style guide colors.

Put them next to the dark ones and youll see. They are the style guides.

One thing I just noticed... Looks like they went back to the stuck-open pizza boxes. I was hoping that moving forward after the Pizza Monster came with the (much better, IMO) hinged box, that'd be what we got for all pizza boxes moving forward. Oh well.

I don't think we've gotten any word in that regard, but since they're apparently part of Haulathon, I'd guess they're not going on NECA Store anytime soon, but might eventually (kinda how TID did)
