Agree about the colors. The review I watched had a guy calling the new ones "more vibrant"..."more cartoony"..."more yellow". They look dull in a washed out way to me.

I passed on today’s online releases. I found the Samurai 2 pack in store and have the Original release of Bebop and Rocksteady. I also have Pizza Club Leo and Don and the 4 Pack Punk Turtles….just need Pizza Club Raph, Mike and Casey in Suit 2 Pack.

All the Targets I checked today had every Pizza Club except Mikey (including multiples of the others). Wat up wit dat? Find him and I'm done with this noise.
One thing bothering me though, why us Raph the only one whose cover pic doesn't match his scene in the intro? He should be twirling a sai and/or shoving a pizza at the camera, not sitting in a manhole... where did they get that from? Last edited by DonnieLaForge; 04-20-2024 at 08:39 PM. |

I got the first release Bebop and Rocksteady when they came out and while trying to pose Bebop on a shelf I accidentally snapped the leg joint and it broke off. Haven’t attempted any kind of repair yet. I wouldn’t get the re-release cause I’m afraid of breaking it again unless they are somehow made more durable now. Also the chains fell off the wrist, alot of loose pieces. Only way I’d get a re-release of them is if they fix the scale, they are way bigger than they should be. I got the Super Hero Bebop and Rocksteady 2pak and they seem more in scale with the cartoon. Too bad the standard Bebop and Rocksteady weren’t that size, I don’t like them having the same body and size as Leatherhead, they tower over the Shredder figure but in the cartoon Shredder is actually taller than them.
Checked Target again, I found the Suit Casey/Foot 2pak so I got that. Interesting it comes with an unmasked head sculpt, I know that was never shown in the cartoon but perhaps it’s some never before seen concept art from the cartoon? And finally found a Pizza Club Turtle in store, they only had Mikey so I got it. The “M” on the belt buckle looks kinda green but I’ll have to take it out of the package to get a better look. The figure looks great, just wish it came with more facial expression options, I’d like to have all 4 turtles with the closed mouth, angry eyes look. Guess I’d have to buy multiples of each, that’s how they get ya. Still hoping for an Ultimate Shredder as an all new figure. The Toon Shredder we got from NECA is in the Mirage Comics line scale, which makes him look too thin for the cartoon line. The standard cartoon Casey Jones seems to have got an all new sculpt so when I hold him next to the Mirage Comics Casey I can see the slight difference in size. |

I will say, I have the original release of Casey, so I don't know if the paint was different when they re-released him last year, but the new head definitely doesn't match that original release. To Bebop and Rocksteady, I don't mind the scale, as that first season is really where all my nostalgia lies, and they were much larger there (though Rocksteady had camo pants even after he mutated). As you said, April's miniature stature is a much bigger problem. I feel like this is never going to be corrected, though, as even the superior second version uses 80% of the same parts from that first release. |

A simple repaint over the skin tone will fix that new casey head. Citadel paints to the rescue.

Picked up all four Pizza Club Turtles (very underwhelmed by them and I hate to say that) and Suited Casey with Foot.
Left the Punk Turtles and both Usagi's on the shelf. Once my over-a-year-ago pre-ordered Ultimate April shows up I am..... ehhhh.... 98% sure I'm done buying these. The two percent is..... honestly I can't imagine what it would be, but there are still a lot of releases to go. Maybe Machine Gun Granny. |

I saw everything (I think) but Mikey at my Target. It was fun to check them out but I was thankfully still not tempted to buy any of it. I think Ultimate Shredder and a few of the missing mutants like Wyrm are about the only things that I'd still consider at this point. Oh, and big boi Krang, depending on the price.
Feels good. |

Let's not forget that NECA could easily make the following Playmates originals into What If? toon releases (It would also bypass any toy rights that Playmates had for them):
Wyrm Panda Khan Pizza Face Ray Fillet King Lionhart Walkabout Doctor El Half Court Hothead Monty Moose Sandstorm Scale Tail (Karai) Hot Spot Super Shredder Shogun Shoate |

Considering Playmates' Shogun Shoate was practically a 1:1 to Mirage's Chote (and not a Playmates original), they could easily just release Chote under their comic line without having to change his design at all. I'm also hoping they actually do this since he'd be a great addition to the line (and maybe include a long hair Renet head with him, since I doubt they'd make another Renet figure just for that look).
Panda Kahn is also not a Playmates original, btw, but a crossover character (like Usagi) that they'd need to negotiate the rights for with the character's creator.

Well, I actually don't have any issues with the Renet that's out, other than that the weird red version based on the IDW recolors of the Mirage comics is the more easily found version. Though now that I think about it, I guess a new headsculpt WOULD be a good excuse to make the true colors more easily accessible. Whatever the case, I was just mentioning it because while Renet had short hair in her first appearance, she had long hair during the Chote storyline.

This toon "wave" consists of:
Bebop reissue Rocksteady reissue 10 turtles...TEN Casey variant Foot Soldier Greatest hits and only greatest hits. Steam has run out on anything but that broken record. Massive Krang is the crown jewel and then it's time to bow out! |

If my Target is anything to go by, robotic Bebop and Rocksteady and possibly the Frogs will show up in here somewhere. Though the Frogs may be the same sets that had been languishing on the shelf for a year+ that mysteriously vanished for a couple months.
