Well, we've done it again and picked up another street cat.
I wanted to call him Skinny Joe, but my brother swooped in in the wake of better light and named him Pete. Given the shape of his face, Pete is a way better name

Damn....not sure what made me think of coming back here...but I am surprised there are still some old faces swinging by!
I'm sure I've "outgrown" this place but I sure would like to come back on a regular basis.... So...if we be sharin how our life has changed, well.... Krow and I have been together for about 14 years (met right here on the ol' Drome so this place has a special spot in my heart) married almost 7 of thoes and our tiny turtle dudette will be 4 years old this weekend! I'll be graduating nursing school in June and then the pressure is on to pass the dreaded NCLEX! This place was my escape, long ago, from a dismal life and I'm glad to see others have "outgrown" it too! I miss all you old timers and the memories but us being gone just means our life has more purpose and our "real life" is time consuming and important! LONG LIVE THE TECHNODROME! |

My family just said goodbye to our oldest cat, Bianca. Her health had been failing dramatically and it was pretty clear in the last few days that she was done.
She's joined our other cats in the backyard corner, with her stuffed toy cat. She was seventeen, and was from our very first litter of foster kittens. She was the leader of a pretty big legacy in our home.

It finally took a month, but I finally came down with a cold.
I've had a cough since Christmas and been in the midst of my family being sick, and now it's finally hit me

Yesterday I gave my 2 weeks notice at my current job, and start my new job on the 8th. I'm scheduled at my current job until the 1st, unless they decide to show me the door early. I'm intent on sticking it out, but my wife wants me to finish out this week (I work Friday-Monday), go in on Friday but tell them I'm out after that shift. It has been a huge bone of contention between us.
Thoughts?

Good for you on your new job! I'm hoping for an opportunity to meet with someone about a job on Monday - or at least another person to connect to for one.
Is there any particular reason why she'd want you to to not have the second week? Maybe with the thought that you should enjoy a "break" from work for a few days?

Why is it such a point of contention? What do you get by ducking out early?

Sorry for the late reply. Utrom is right about her wanting me to have more than just the busy 4th of July weekend off for a break from this place. She also feels, and this is mainly my fault because of my constant griping about the environment...justified or not, that I don't owe them anything with the way this last 6 months have gone (being voluntold that I was going to work weekends until they replaced the guy who left before Christmas...and they still havent fully replaced him. Being told the other weekend guy would have to "step up" too and never seeing it, ect)
It's become a point of contention mainly because were both so pig-headed.

Hello, user from 2003. And here I thought I've been here for too long. 2009 was really a decade ago already? Damn.

I’m closing in at 20 years on the drome soon since I lurked around 2002-2003. Probably would have registered sooner if I wasn’t too busy posting on IGN at the time racing to 100,000 posts. Those were the days. Where does the time go? My fellow 30+ year olds, when did we all get so old? Doesn’t feel that long ago we were angsty teenagers ranting and trolling message boards.
I swear the years between 2001-2005 or so were magical. |

Crazy how you were the first user ever to reach 100k there. You've been surpassed since then but only by a handful of users. There's a guy there who made it to like 190k in 2012 or so because he spammed a lot in the Christmas holiday spam board which only opened on Christmas season and was made for users to go crazy and spam to boost up their post count. He must have spent the entire Christmas day and eve posting lol When I joined you already had like 80k posts and people on The Vestibule would occasionally make threads wondering "does this CyberCubed guy even have a life?!". And then it took you aged to go from like 90,500k posts to 100,000k haha |

We don't DIE of alcoholism; we thrive on it.
