Glad I didn't pay much heed to the anomalous comments on here regarding wave 5 and 6. Everything looks and feels better in hand. They reek of quality.

So far I've unboxed Leatherhead (definitely, and surprisingly, the star of the bunch), Scratch, Slash, Ace, Krang and Ray Fillet.

I must have lucked out because all the joints are tight, very tight on mine with the exception of Krang walker, which is an engineering mess.

Here's my initial impression (I've already mentioned how phenomenal Leatherhead is so I will skip his review here):

Scratch is great, he captures the spirit of the vintage exceptionally well. I don't find the permanently attached ball and chain accessory to detract from the figure (I would argue that it adds to it's charm). He's a solid figure in every way but I don't have any special attachment to him. Accessories are fun (including that birthday cake gun) and captures the essence of slapstick toon comedy. Grateful that Super7 brought this figure to life (especially considering the exorbitant prices of the vintage)

Slash is excellent. The dark, cross-latched textured skin contrasts well with the hot pink. He's a nice bulky figure and the joints have a high-quality clicket-y feel to them. Contrary to popular opinion, the unpainted elements (e.g. shoulder pads) do provide a nice sense of contrast and serves as a call back homage to the vintage. I don't think we really should be expecting realism from a fantasy license. No issues with the dual-tone belt. It shouldn't work but it does. Hips are stable, despite his top heavy physique.

Ace Duck is the sleeper hit of the wave. He's got a lot of character, especially when you pair him up with the tommy gun, alternate head sculpt and goggles. Wings required some heating to insert. Unfortunately, I couldn't secure his belt with the egg grenades. They just don't fasten. Is he a little too yellow? Yes. I just don't care. Great figure all around.

Krang is ....well, they give you two Krangs! The walker is an ambitious project gone wrong. Silver accents really bring it to life. Loads of articulation - this appears to be a double-edged sword. You can get him to stand, awkwardly, by making him take a deep stride with one robotic foot forward. Screw it. I just placed him on the tripod. Saved time, space and energy. Excellent presentation. Botched execution. At least, they give you two Krangs as a consolation prize!

Ray Fillet. What's not to love? Everyone Loves Ray. This figure is the epitome of quality. He's very detailed - heck even his wrists have natural looking veins on them! Fish Stix, by himself, is the size of Krang and sports more detail than the other buddy figure, Jailbird. The gold rope and anchor accessory looks inexplicably regal. Ray recreates that smug grin that have been etched in our minds since childhood, without going into bizzaro cross-eyed territory like the vintage. The neck has an interesting pivot that feels almost buttery. Not the typical joint. His wings have a meaty/fleshy thickness to it (almost like a real ray?). Hips are stable. He's not perfect though. Ray's shirt is a dusky yellow, while the sleeves are brighter. Not sure why they didn't keep it consistent? Perhaps, they were toying around with the color change feature before scrapping it...

Always use a Hair dryer to soften or manipulate plastic. The Ace duck egg belt, which is a little finicky, use heat on the hole you choose. And if needed, take a very small screw driver to open the hole slightly large for the peg to go in

Same thing with the back peg holes. Heat em, and then insert

Leatherhead's tail- HEAT the hole on the tail

Slash's Stars- Heat and use small screw driver to open the holes

That's great advice! I might give Ace's bandolier belt another shot.

Reeeeeally hope that's pointing towards Half-Court even though it looks closer to what Slam Dunkin Don has. I don't understand why they'd start yet another variant subline with Donatello when they could just release him in the costume line and finish it off.

Either way, I'm excited for another wave to be revealed. The last two have, quite frankly, sucked.

Ok, I don't care if that is Slam Dunk Don or Half Court. As long as it's TMNT I'm in. Slam Dunk Don is probably my favorite variant right up there with Space Raph. He and Half Court are two I have been hoping for in this line since it started. Would be cool if they came in a wave together.

It would make sense to release Slam Dunkin' Don and Halfcourt in the same wave. If need at least two players for a real game!

They didn't suck, they had some of my favorite characters!! Actually, I'm a bit confused about Slam Dunkin Don. On the one hand, I am a completist but then again, I'm not into sports, like at all. However, if Half Court is in the same wave as Don, that would sweeten the deal and tilt the balance in favor of getting him. At least, it would be a logical pairing and might work in a mini-diorama of sorts.

The last two waves have definitely been weaker (especially the last one) so hopefully we'll see some good character selection here.

Half court was my first instinct based on the tease but the accessories do match Don better. With few exceptions I don't really have any skin in the game for variants but starting another set of TMNT variants instead of completing the first set or continuing the music set is an interesting choice.

Just give me Rat King please!

Rat King is long overdue. Pretty odd decision for the S7 to start the sports variants without completing the disguise (e.g. Undercover Don), and Rock n Roll variants (it looks like Raph is next).

I wonder what an ideal wave would look like for most folks. No variants. No mousers. Heavy Hitters. So I am guessing something along the lines of:

Rat King, Traag, Usagi, Hot Head and Super Shredder or

Rat King, Traag, Usagi, King Lionheart and Chrome Dome. I would imagine Wingnut and Screwloose too, but they never seem to sell all that well, despite the assumed popularity. I totally underestimated the popularity of Sergeant Bananas (or maybe people are trolling because they have some aversion to GG) so who knows which mutant weirdos seem to generate the most nostalgia. Also, please make Wyrm.

For me personally:

Napoleon, Usagi, Panda Khan, Tokka and Zak the Neutrino (or Chrome Dome or Super Shredder or Hot Head or Walkabout)

I do hope that Super7 releases Killer Bee and Needlenose as deluxe non-wave figures. A movie turtles wave (stylized like the Playmates figures and not ultra-realistic like NECA) would have some appeal. Even bootlegs of the Playmates movie turtles continue to sell well.

For me I'd say

1 TMNT variant (don't care who but not including this is just unrealistic)
Rat King (arguably the biggest character left)
Traag (high demand and a big bulky character)
Usagi (massive fan favourite)

That would be an amazing wave.

At this point I just want the upcoming Triceraton, and hopefully a Shogun Shoate and Hothead down the road.

Variants are fine, it's just hard to trust that Super7 will finish the subset when so little they do makes sense. I think one per wave is a good balance, but I don't think it's wise to have more than two variant lines going at once. But again... this is Super7, they have no clue what "wise" means.

I'm fine with multiple variant lines. But I guess it doesn't really bother me if I don't get all the rockers or all the sports TMNT. I mean I hope all the Playmates figures get remade. But if not I just hope it goes deep.

Dang, nice! I like that they went with the rare white uniform variant of Donatello, but I'm sure that will piss some people off since it's not the one they had as a kid (he's a skip either way for me). Flocked Splinter is an easy pass but that's a better use of the bonus spot than the Shredder in the last wave. I wish I could get that head with the pupils unflocked. Wingnut and Screwloose have been a top 5 since the line was announced and they look fantastic. I just hope Wingnut is appropriately large, which he looks to be. Scumbug... he was a favorite as a kid but as I've gotten older I've become less enamored with him for some reason. I'll still get him, and he looks great, he's just not as exciting. Zak is done extremely well but I'll skip on him until he's on sale.

Pretty solid job, Super7! Still some strange omissions but I can appreciate that there are more "core" characters in this wave at least.
