End of Mirage Group
Don't know if this has been posted or not, but it's a downer for me. An end of an era.

How come those four Mirage corporations were still alive after more than 10 years?
Irrelevant news, we all know Mirage died in 2009. This isn't in any way related to the possibility of new Volume 4 issues coming. |

It is a little bit. If Peter intended to "publish" Vol. 4 #33 it'd reason to think he'd at least bother to protect the "Publishing" part from lapsing.

bit of a bummer but honestly they were just a shadow the last 12 years anyway.

Saw it just now over on Facebook and came here right away.
My only question is, as a few have expressed, if this means that Peter Laird is definitely not finishing vol 4. It was a long shot for sure, but this would be a 100% "NO" and that's a big downer really. |

It's not so much a for sure "no," it's just not a good sign at all. Like, it wouldn't have cost much of anything to keep the light on in the "Publishing" side just in case. Which isn't to say he NEEDS the light on with Publishing to do more Vol. 4. Again, it's just not a good sign.

Sad. Granted, I had assumed it pretty much already had, for all intents and purposes, but still sad to see it made official. I suppose the stock of stuff they wanted to sell off on eBay has reached its end and that'll be that.

I only go to Miragelicensing every six weeks or so since it's just random retro figures sold on Ebay. That being said I have yet to see the message. It's sad. It's ninjaturtles.com. I remember discovering it in July 1998 on one of my earliest explorations of the internet. It was a Friday ritual for over a decade in the closing of my formative years. Like Winters despite it already being a dead studio I feel a gut punch and sadness about this.

Well... Considering something I wrote this or last week, it kind of feels like nothing. Like sure, this is the official end but in any practical sense the company has been dead for a decade, it essentially didn't exist long before this news. The last time they published something new was in 2014 and that just a 30 page comic that was literally given away for free. And I literally haven't ever benefited from their direct existance ever as all my copies of Mirage Studios comics are IDW reprints, nearly all comics they could reprint legally have been reprinted by IDW anyway, I could not buy directly from them anyway because I don't live in the US, there is no secondary source to buy their publications from and the only Mirage TMNT comic I have that isn't an IDW-reprint and IDW haven't printed is one I came across used by luck. In a symbolic sense I guess it's sad but I'm not going to act like this is something to care about in any meaningful way.
The only actual meaningful question is, does Peter Laird lose the rights to finish the comic nobody here thinks he even cares to finish? |

I was pretty taken aback when I read the news on Facebook during my break at work earlier. I even tried to contact Dan Berger about this on Facebook, though it looks as if he may have left that site, so I'm writing him an e-mail. To be completely honest, I'm more upset over the idea that Dan isn't going to bother posting the Archie comics stuff on the Mirage Group website than Volume 4 possibly never being concluded.

Oh, wow, today is the day the last of the ebay auctions being active:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/mirage-stud...1&_ipg=&_from= Love the fact that they got the Turtle-spined VHS sets for sale on the last day! And the original artwork to the last issue of the Archie ongoing comic!

We should all say it out loud, what we all know but are afraid to say it, hoping there really is a chance but there isn't.
Laird will never finish Vol.4, he has no intention and will never feel like it. |

I mean when you stop to realize all of the Mirage staff are in their 60's now, it is pretty obvious they're all senior citizens. Within the next 15-20 years, as morbid as it sounds, most of them will be dying off. It's obvious most of them are in retirement or heading there soon.
With no TMNT comics to publish, there was nothing to do. |
