TMNT The movie 30th anniversary

Can you believe this classic action comedy is 30 years old?

I remembered when i was 7, in Starlog and Comicscene magazine about a movie in the works as i was excited back in 89.

Then i saw the trailer to it in theaters when i was turning 8 seeing Tango and Cash in theaters and WOW, that trailer blew me away as it was a dream come true.

I saw the movie 3 times in theaters in my city and had coloring book, cards and comic adaptation and CD soundtrack. I even got the VHS for Christmas that year from Santa.

I hope Shout does a 4K remastered Collector's Edition blu.

I can now that you reminded me.

Think I'll go drink whiskey for breakfast and tell some kids to get the hell off my lawn. Thanks for the existential crisis.

I'd love a 4k remaster. I'd love a director's cut. Please give me both.

Id love a Shout Factory Shout Select version of the 1990 Movie. They did a great job with the Bill and Ted Movies.

TMNT (1990): the only one that even tried at all.

Haha.

My fear is that Platinum Dunes actually was trying.

“Bebop and Rocksteady, haaaa. THIS is what those little weirdos want. We are totally going to murder the box office. Why didn’t anyone else think of this??”

Yeah, it's like they started making "Out of the Shadows" right after binging a bunch of old "Angry Nintendo Nerd" or that other guy with the hat videos. Like then they went, "Ah-HAH! We've cracked the code! There's been other TMNT movies but never one with what the fans have wanted all along -- Bebop, Rocksteady and KRANG!"

The very existance of that movie, what I know is in it, and how they marketed it still make me angry. I still haven't watched it.

After it bombed there was an interview with one of the producers who was like, "We gave them Bebop and Rocksteady like they wanted, I don't know what went wrong."

I saw it just to confirm how terrible it was, but god, it seriously made me angry how terrible it was.

Maybe my expectations were so low from the 2014 version that this one didn't sting so bad. Out of the Shadows had some serious problems, but I enjoyed it much more than 2014. Now THAT one really baffled me.

At the bare minimum, OotS did excite me a little bit when I saw the Fugitoid and Triceraton cameos. At least SOMEONE in Hollywood knows who they are.

I have such strong memories and emotions tied to the 1990 film. I can remember counting down the days till its opening, which I saw the first showing with my cousin. I remember there was even a article in our local paper about it with a big picture still from the movie which hung proudly on my wall for years.

If someone came out of the clear blue sky and said I could either have an original art page from TMNT Mirage number one or a medium level prop from the movie, I would choose the proper hands down all day long.

Yup. Whatever materialises next will probably be overblown Hollywood goop. Part of what makes the 1990 film so good is that it isn't typical Hollywood fare - it concentrates on the respectfully assembled story and characters.

Wow. I totally missed those cameos. But then I wasn't really studying the film when I saw it. It remains quite terrible, although it has some entertaining moments.

I didn't care much for live action films as a child. I prefered cartoons, comics, books and video games. But I liked some films like Home Alone, Spaceballs and Hot Shots

30 years old sounds about right, though I didn’t even find out about the 1990 movie until I was much older. Was probably too young at the time. I was familiar the second and third films in the live-action trilogy, though.

4K remaster would be incredible. I'm not sure how much they could improve it given how the original production was incredibly grainy from get get go, but just owning it on 4K would be enough to sell me.
