Some people just cannot leave things be. Our society gets bored way too easy and way too fast. Gotta point the finger at the next damned thing to get offended at.

Regardless of how anyone views the quality of life that Dr. Seuss possessed, there were / are many kids that learned how to read from his books.

But yeah sure, I liked The Cat in The Hat, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Green Eggs and Ham, and a few Berenstain Bear books as a kid. Therefore, I must be such an awful person indeed!

Rubbish nonsense. It’s a product of its time and should be maintained as is.

I just looked up a few of these.

I can see why they want to stop producing them but some stuff is pretty minor. I think you just release new editions with a new drawing and rhyme.

Don’t know how popular these specific books are though. Maybe it doesn’t matter much either way. They’ll always be pretty widely available.

What happens when society doesn't have unifying ideology, but have a lot of money and resources for navel gazing.

I could see why a publisher would not be comfortable printing those books today and might refuse, but honestly, they could have just chosen to pull them for the time being and consider possible updates to refresh them and make them less cringy for today's market. (Who doesn't like collecting a good variant? ) Some would still yell about it, but... meh, those people probably never cared to own them previously either.

edit: Or as Wildcat said before me.

And ebay has been pulling sales of any Seuss book now. Who could have figured?

We have 3 of the 6 (found the Cat's Quizzer at a flea market months ago and Mulberry Street and If I Ran the Zoo are in Seuss collections I bought years ago) I'm surprised we never bought McElligot's Pool since it's the only one of the remaining 3 I even remember. On Beyond Zebra and Scrambled Eggs Super! were hard to find BEFORE they were pulled.

That's not right, that's anti-capitalist. Since when are eBay enemies of the free market economy? That literally goes against their entire reason for being. There's only an eBay in the first place because of people saying "I have a thing. You want this thing? You can buy this thing from me."

What the actual f*ck.

If this is true, eBay might be trying to show how progressive it is to Twatters.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I'm not looking to die, but I sure as sh*t don't wanna live in this timeline 50 years henceforth. Sh*t's gonna be bananas (That's "b-a-n-a-n-a-s").

I'm also gonna remind everyone that none of this sh*t happened before Barry Allen went back in time to try and save his Mom. Just sayin'. "Thanks", Barry.

That's exactly right. But again, you'd say that to the mouth breathers of the day and you'd get that "Duuuuddeeee. I don't think it's.... thhhaattt".

But it is.
It's modern book burning. It's modern scarlet lettering and it's modern witch-hunting.

Yeah but ebay has been doing this for years.

Examples: Dukes of Hazzard merch if it has the battle flag of Virginia on it. Or the flag itself. Anything the Lunatic Left has deemed dangerous. But you can still buy actual terrorists books, manifestos or whatever. Except for maybe Hitler's stuff.

Supply is there as people have them to sell. Demand is there because the Lunatic Left has said "peasants, you cannot have this" and so people really want it.

Its all bad.

Now... if they were banning my One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, the first book I recall being able to read by myself... that might be a bit more personal. lol

Also, when I went to edit, why did I get hit with odd screen with a spinning... uh, vaguely pinwheel shape?... that was supposedly a captcha thing, but did nothing before finally reloading the page.

Lol this is exactly my thoughts too. I saw a lot of outrage on FB, mostly from people who didn't even bother to find out about the fact that it was his own family that decided to end publication of those books. They aren't banned so much as just going out of print. Funny how no one ever complains when other books go out of print, but just when there is racially insensitive content.

Rise from your grave, thread:

This is what all this book censorship leads to:
'Empty shelves with absolutely no books': Students, parents question school board's library weeding process

Quote:
In the spring, Takata says students were told by staff that "if the shelves look emptier right now it's because we have to remove all books [published] prior to 2008."
Quote:
"When you talk to the librarian in the library, the books are being weeded by the date, no other criteria," Bailey told the committee.
So, are those guys progressives or just plain ol'good fascists, just a bit more gay and pedo than usual variety?

Of course it's Canada. "Equity-based process," indeed. But of course this is coming here to the US if it hasn't already. Then when confronted about it they'll say, "What?! YOU are the guys that want to ban books!"
