an item is worth whatever someone will pay. the drawing lot sold, so someone obviously thought the were worth that amount. not only did they sell, but they sold with multiple bids, for quite a bit more than the start price. TMNT '90 production are RARELY comes up for sale. in fact, in my decade of collecting, i've never seen any art from the film on the open market.

not all of the drawings in the lot were pictured in the catalog. the listing clearly states that the distressed, screen-used leo drawing was included in the lot. that drawing alone is easily worth what the auction brought, even without the other concept drawings. we don't know who bid or won. it easily could have been someone that had a chance to look at the drawings before bidding.

To my recollection it said there was a COPY of it. Not the OG.

If anyone is interested, The Children's Museum in Indianapolis bought the Raph costume.
Perfect place for it.

Lot 1178 - Archive of (6) Karen Steward concept sketches which represent the work of character "April" in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles plus screen-used prop art. (New Line Cinema, 1990) Pencil, colored pencil, and colored marker sketches on 9" x 12" (3) and 12" x 16" (3) illustration paper by assistant Art Director Karen Steward of "Turtle" characters which are meant to represent the work of the film's character "April" who sketches them during the film. The small one of "Leo" also includes the filmed copy version of it in same size, intentionally distressed for screen-use. Beautifully rendered artifacts from the first film for these cult comic-book figures.
screen-used prop art... filmed copy... i take that to mean the screen-used prop. being that it was a prop that was folded up and shoved in a jeans pocket, i'm going to assume there were more than one. perhaps "filmed copy" means that color copies were made and distressed. maybe more than one was drawn by steward. i wouldn't be shocked at either.

lets just say for the sake of argument that it wasn't the, or one of the, filmed props. the lot of six production-used drawings sold for $950. that's a little over $150 per production-used concept drawing. anyone that is familiar with the prices of film production art knows that $150 isn't bad AT ALL. in fact, it's pretty cheap, even after you add in buyers premium and shipping. i would say the buyer got a fantastic deal. ESPECIALLY if the leo piece turns out to be legit. i'm kicking myself even more for missing out on it...

Museum just responded and said," We don’t have plans yet to display Raphael and no upcoming exhibits that coincide so it might be several months before he’s out for public viewing. We do have Bumblebee from the Transformer movies keeping watch over the Welcome Center and he is very cool to see and worth the trip. Stay tuned for more details about Raphael."

That's a shame, I hope they take good care of it until it gets displayed.

on another forum 2 foot clan masks, one of mikey's elbow pads, and the foot clan forearm guards popped up. He was trying to get a value on them, and I told him to come here with them but he probably never did

They made 2 helmets for movie 1, when they shot movie 2 they just modified the helmets from movie 1.
So unfortunately a pure movie 1 does not exist. (everyone likes 1 better)
This was suppose to be the better of the two helmets, the other needed some repairs.
I do not know where it ended up or what happened to it.

I have the gauntlets, leg and shoulder armor but they are buried and I can't get to them for a while.
They have not survived as well, for they have dried out and alot of the rubber blades have collapsed, warped and even fallen off.
I have contacted Tom Spina, and repairs are not possible at this time.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these props as much as I have showing them
Thanks to all
Can You please repost these pics and the ones with blades and katana's as well??? Pretty, pretty, please!
