Bad Boys for Life’ Filmmakers to Direct ‘Batgirl’ Movie for Warner Bros. (Exclusive)

The Batgirl movie project has found its director. Or, rather, in this case, its directors.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo behind the 2020 hit Bad Boys for Life, have closed a deal to steer Warner Bros.’s DC feature centering on Barbra Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon.

Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and is in the Warners fold with her screenwriting on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the script for what is being planned as a movie for HBO Max.

Kristin Burr, who is gearing up for the release of Cruella later this month, is producing.

Although test deals still are being locked up and some already have passed, the talent expected to test for the role includes Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch and Leslie Grace. We also have heard Haley Lu Richardson’s name, but she might have bowed out before the test process.

The second picture looks closest to Barbara Gordon so I will go with her.

I'm just wondering... is this supposed to be the daughter of the Jeffrey Wright Gordon? Or the J.K. Simmons Gordon? Or a third unknown Gordon?

Currently it's not known yet but my money is on either J.K. Simmons or a different continuity altogether. I can't see this being the daughter of Jeffrey Wright's Gordon and not for the reasons people may think depending on who gets casted as her.

Even if Gordon is black he can still have a white daughter if his wife is white.

Batgirl should be white. I don't need to see a black or hispanic Barbara Gordon.

All of those actresses in the running look like they could make decent casting choices. Two of the actresses have done some good work.

After testing actresses this week, Warner Bros. And DC Films looks to have found their Batgirl. Sources tell Deadline Leslie Grace has been tapped to play Barbara Gordon in the studios’ Batgirl.

Uh... Very few people from the Americas are, if that answers your question. Like, what's your threshold here? Genetic studies show that the average african-american has 73-82% african ancestry, would you consider them "completely black"?
