Honestly, between that and Stockman-Fly, this series really has me cringing. I get why the Nickelodeon cartoon brought that kind of stuff back, I didn't there but at least it's understandable. This thing on the other hand is more or less meant to be taken seriously, and that it really feels out of place.

I hope the writer redeems Donatello in this issue for all the whining he made him do in the previous issues.

I had written this whole series off because I wanted it to be IDW canon and serious. Now I can enjoy it knowing that it is actually IDW turning into FW OT

I didn't even bother reading this one. Just kinda flipped through the pages, went "huh... uh huh... yep."
Lived down to my expectations. Hooray.

Maybe it's just me, but it felt like more stuff happened in this issue than in the previous five.

This was a much better issue than the last few, even if it was just one big brawl. Shredder coming back working alongside Splinter and Batman was interesting, as well as him agreeing to go back to jail. If this series continues I wonder what they intend for Shredder after this. A lot of great scenes but mostly due to the artist, I can't look away.
Seems like Karai got the Foot back under her control, they didn't make it clear what happened with Baxter though. Guess he just stays a mutant with the Foot? Bebop/Rocksteady got taken down. Judging by sales most issues sold in the 30,000 copy range, I wonder if that's enough for DC to continue a third continuation. |

I know this series isn't canon to anything, it's just really weird to see what's essentially the IDW Turtles driving around in the Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp.

This second crossover with Batman was pretty lame apart from the amazing art...

Speaking of the artwork, Freddie Williams has most of it up for sale on his website:

Here's my full summary and review of Batman/TMNT II #6 at TMNT Entity.
Ended how I thought it would, so not much to say. Though really, if anyone should have been carted off to prison at the end, it should've been Donnie for causing all that destruction (and most certainly a number of deaths). Oh, but he felt sorry for his mistake? Well, then that makes everything ok, I guess. Batman felt incidental half the time in this mini; like if you cut him out completely or substituted him with somebody else, it wouldn't have changed anything. At least the art was spectacular. I definitely got my money's worth on that end. |

That was my biggest complaint about this series. Seems like all the most interesting points (Splinter using the Lazarus pit, Shredder getting a rematch with Batman, etc.) were teased, built-up, and then resolved off-panel with a later summary statement to prove to the audience that it really happened.

I totally forgot to preorder issue 6.
That is now rectified. I was holding off till I got all 6 to start reading. Netflix mentality. |
