Street Fighter II Censored
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHipEH8iDqg
This happened 4 years ago, and it was just discovered by this YouTube channel and then I found it recently. It looks like Capcom censored symbols from Street Fighter II, including the Japanese Rising Sun on the E. Honda stage. This is dumb, but I guess someone out there got offended by the symbol and Capcom felt they had to get rid of it. The game is over 30 years old; why is the Rising Sun symbol all of a sudden bothering anyone? Is it because snowflakes Gen Z just like to cry about anything? It's examples like this is why I'll keep my SNES version and hopefully some day get the original cabinet version from 1991. |

Demolition of the Berlin Wall: 9 November 1989
Reunification of Germany: 3 October 1990 Arcade debut of Street Fighter II: March 1991 Dissolution of the Soviet Union: 25 December 1991 Super NES release of Street Fighter II: 10 June 1992–17 December 1992 (release date varies between countries) The Soviet Union was still around in March 1991 when we got the arcade game, and that's what matters. Back then, it was all about parents complaining over violent video games. Last edited by Original TMNT Cartoon Fan; 02-17-2025 at 04:01 PM. |

Or what about Street Fighter characters barfing/coughing up blood? That went away and stayed away, didn't it?

I hate people erasing history. It's like when they used to remove the Twin Towers from older media. Stop it. Things happen. Leave them be.
They sure are in a rush to reference J6 whenever they can. Why not start leaving that out.

The motives are a bit different, though. i.e., the people who want to shield everbody from "culturally sensitive" things, vs. the people that absolutely want everyone to see stuff about fictional Trump-like villains in just about every franchise they can and January 6th stuff forevermore. Both are about equally stupid, really, but one might actually be a bit evil or at least manipulative.

I used to be able to beat this game with Dhalsim when I was a kid. Now whenever I play any Streetfighter or Mortal Kombat game I get pwned like a noob.

And even if I wanted to go back and try them out again, I can't stand playing fighting games on a D-Pad style controller.... |

I remember when it was a pretty impressive feat when you could nail a "shor-U-Ken!" at the arcade. Then, even as a kid, I could see the scales beginning to tip into "this is gonna take WAY too long to master!" when games like Killer Instinct started rolling in toward the end of arcades as they were known. All of these 62 hit "ULTRAAAA COMBOOO" type stuff, to where it's just like no way unless you're probably practicing like 16 hours a day.

Any other game, so far, I get either completely wrecked or they're and no one is online or it takes a long time for anyone to hop on.

![]() On a side note, I actually appear in pictures in an issue of EGM because they did a promotional thing at my arcade when the very first Tekken game came out. I happened to be there and sort of got recruited to participate. So now there are pictures of me playing the game. Another picture has an image of the arcade sign on the building and my car was parked just underneath so the '85 Camaro in that picture was my car all published in that issue of EGM. ![]() And on another side note to this thread - it's "display rotation" time in my collection. So I took down my authentic Dune 2 movie poster and McFarlane figures to start putting up an SFII display. So it's an authentic SFII The Animated Movie poster and now I'm populating the case with the Jada figures. Those are amazing - the last SFII figures you'll ever need to buy. No no I keep my collection displays 'modular'. I figured this out once I realized some years back that I had too much stuff to keep expanding. So the way to have your cake and eat it too is to set up a few areas in your collection space that you can rotate stuff in and out of.
And so on one wall area I keep a super high-quality 27x40 movie poster frame mounted next to a Blazon display case. The poster frame is amazing - you don't have to take it off the wall to change the poster out. And so, for the last round of display I had an authentic Dune 2 movie poster in the frame and all of the McFarlane 7" Dune figures in the Blazon display case next to it. But I swapped it out the other day, so now it's showing a Street Fighter II Animated Movie poster and the Blazon case has the Jada line in it. |

Late last night, I bought both the Tomb Raiders IV-VI remaster trilogy and the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter (12 total Street Fighter games) on my PS4. I figure since the Street Fighter was only like $10 and I had $20 in my PS wallet from cashing in my Sony Rewards, I'm like "what the heck" and bought it while it was on sale. If not, I would had to spend $30 as of February 27th 2025 and the Tomb Raider games was also $30. So I only spent $23.40 total out of my Sony Rewards card to get these games. So figure 12 Street Fighter games and 3 Tomb Raider games = 15 games for $23.40.
I played and tried out the Super Street Fighter II The New Challengers and I was only able to get through the Cammy stage but got killed by Zagnief in stage 2 which by the way, the level still had the hammer and sickle symbol uncensored. |
