Was DC and Marvel for kids in the 1970's what TMNT/He-Man/Transformers/Power Rangers was to kids in the 1980's and 1990's. I have no idea what was very popular before 1980. I know some shows/comic books and movies.

I just turned 32. Things do make me feel old, such as the recent fifteenth anniversary of Cobain's suicide.

But I was in fifth grade when I discovered the Turtles, and honestly, it seems longer ago than it really was.

I've gotten my five-year-old daughter into the property a bit, which has been fun for me.

I'd still like to tear through all the Mirage comics someday.

Most toylines were superhero, adventure or space related. Very few if any were tied to a cartoon. A few were based on TV shows. Mego did toys for Star Trek, Planet of the Apes, Happy Days, Chips, Starsky and Hutch, but they are most famous for their World's Greatest Super Hero line. Star Wars was another huge toy line back in the 70's

I forgot Star Wars. It debuted in 1977. And that Justice League was a cartoon and comic book back in the 1970's and early 1980's.

We are now farther away from the end of the 4kids show than we were from the end of the FW show when this thread was created.

I remember when the idea of turning 30 was "getting old."

...

Goddamn. At this point we might as well be heading toward our retirement homes.

I hope that when you are 69 or 70 and lying on your deathbed that you always remain true to form and come here and post something like....

Whenever that day comes, Cubed will either be found in his home, or giving up the ghost on his deathbed.... still logged into the Drome. Maybe even in the middle of a post.

Maybe his final action will be to gather the strength to click 'Submit Reply' one last time. Then, and only then, will the Drome finally go offline.

Please note I am not wishing him ill or wishing for his premature end.

Technically, you're not getting older in a few days, you are always getting older by the second.

When I registered to this forum in 2004...I was only 18 years old. Let that sink in. I was just about finished with High School at the time.

It's weird to think that if you've been on a forum for 20+ years like I have, you can literally view almost every year of your life if you search back through your old posts dating back every year.

Huh, you're slightly younger than I expected. I thought you were closer to 45.

That's Andrew, and Leo when he was here.

I was literally 2 years old when the original cartoon started in the late 80's. Kinda funny I watched the show religiously back then realizing I was only like 2-5 for most of its run up to the early 90's...lol.

I was still a teenager when 2003 finished airing and remember thinking all those boomers who were in their late 20s/30s in the drome were creepy. And now I am the same age they were.

When I first registered, which was back in 2002, I was 29 years old.

I respect the history of this place even if I wasn't here for most of its existence. I may not agree with everyone on this board with everything, but I respect everyone here because like me they are all old turtle fans still active on an old message board during the age of social media. In fact, I don't even use social media. The drome is all I need to learn about what's happening that is not in the news. I despise social media. I wish that I would have known about this place back then. I was only active on a skateboard message board when this place first started. To me there is something punk rock about being such a huge fan of a goofy franchise and still use an ancient message board to talk to other fans during this day and age. It's going against the grain I feel.
