How else do you think he got the funding for all those arcade machines and ninja dogis?

Cubed couldn't even play them at 2x speed either, forget the cost.

Wait, how much of the 80s did you even exist in.

Me....I was only 0-4 in the 80's. I was born in 1985 in December, so I am really more of a 90's kid.

I am not middle age yet like all you 40+ year olds.

Now we just gotta hope and prey that they use practical suits for the turtles, and as many practical effects as possible for all the other stuff. We could have something great if they do!

As soon as they announce the turtles are all CGI my hopes will immediately sink.

Man...I'm SUPER excited for a LAST RONIN movie and its weird to see people already crapping on the idea, but thats the internet, I guess.

I absolutely think they should make it a quasi-sequel to the 1990 movie. And use the same director, if possible. Do it like GHOSTBUSTERS:AFTERLIFE. Very loosely acknowledge the original movie, ignore the sequels, and let it be its own thing for the most part. I even thought if they dont want to explain/use The Fugitoid, they could replace him with an A.I. designed by Donnie and get Corey Feldman back to do the voice. Judith Hoag would be a great choice for Old April. As far as the futuristic setting...they can use the Volume for the establishing shots and then a lot of the rest of it can be on sets. It would not be that hard or expensive to do a live-action Last Ronin that way. And I agree that Turtle in Suit is the way to go-get the Henson company back and let them go nuts designing new and improved Turtle suits.

My only concern is Paramount being on the verge of getting sold and who knows what the current owners may kill in the process. I actually like Walter Hamada and hope he can get it across the finish line. He had a lot of great ideas for how to save DC that werent implemented due to the company being sold. Hope that doesnt derail his plans yet again.

Most of the ideas for DC weren't very well received, which resulted in the DCEU being in shambles.

For what its worth, a LOT of the stuff Hamada wanted to do never even got a chance. He was the one who wanted to bring back Michael Keaton as Batman and make him the Nick Fury of the DCU. He wanted that to eventually lead to a Batman Beyond movie. A lot of his plans got steamrolled by The Rock once he signed onto Black Adam and tried to take over the show. Hamada is not a bad exec by any means, and theres a lot he could do for the TMNT brand as long as Paramount doesnt get bought by a company like Discovery that immediately comes in and starts looking for tax write-offs.

An R-rated live-action TMNT movie is a bold idea that has never been tried before. Basing it on a VERY popular and best selling comic that most Turtle fans seemed to love seems like a no-brainer. Plus they're still making more Mutant Mayhem animated stuff thats kid friendly. We're literally getting the best of both worlds, with stuff to make TMNT fans young and old interested and engaged in the brand again. Its a great time to be a Turtle fan.

I can assure you those will come out before The Last Ronin ever does.

Gen X is the worst, I wish we didn't have to share TMNT with them.
I’d hope they’d come out before TLR considering they were announced like two years ago lol. I wouldn’t hold my breath for them though. They could still happen but streaming outlook has changed drastically since then and Mutant Mayhem was not a splash.

Yet another thing that got mentioned and then it's total radio silence ever since. Didn't we also hear about those around the time of MM? Which was announced around 4 years ago mid pandemic... Not holding my breath on them, you'd think at least one would have appeared by now.

Maybe they simply got axed to put the budget into the series.

This is never going to get off the ground either. Just think of the huge budget they'd have to make for a live-action movie set in a future dystopian setting. It would basically be a sci-fi movie with robot ninja's and some weird flashbacks to the "present" with the modern Turtles all dying off.

They aren't putting that much budget into a TMNT movie, especially when the 2014/2016 movies bombed, and Mutant Mayhem did not do all that well either. This is going to fall apart before it gets going.

If they do it right it doesn't need a mammoth budget. Plus it's only one mutant ninja turtle they need to animate, not 4. And if they're going R, they might as well make the Foot robots into real people now, which also saves CGI money.

They should change death of Hiroto. At least allow Mikey to cut off his head or smash his brain into pulp with his nunchucks.

I remember we were getting both Mutant Mayhem and another live-action reboot, I guess the latter is done.

A movie like this wouldn't even come out till when....2027/2028 at the earliest? By then barely anyone would care.

Do you not want it to happen or is this battered wife syndrome? What’s up?

I mean I can understand a little skepticism if you don’t accept the fact that the book was the top-selling graphic novel of 2023. Read that again. Not Batman, not Spider-Man, but ninja turtles. And it wasn’t even the first year it went on sale. That’s a huge deal. Most people on the TMNT fandom don’t seem to grasp that. They’d be stupid not to adapt this movie.

Other versions of TMNT have simply not been hitting this hard. You can say “well that’s just the comics”, but the other TMNT comics don’t sell anywhere near as well and that tells you something. TLR is speaking to fans in a way kiddie-pool TMNT has not in a very long time.

As for the budget, no clue why you’re concerned. Blockbuster Films take us to crazy sci-fin worlds on a weekly basis. This is just a Dystopian New York, with some robots and flying cars you can animate on a computer. This thing is easily going to garner more attention than MM.

Another point: look at the current comic book movie landscape. Deadpool 3 and Joker are some of be last ones standing right now that people actually care about and they’re both rated R. Their previous iterations are the top grossing R-rated films of all time. Now we see Sony green lighting an R-rated Venom animated film. This is the new trend in comic book adaptations and we’ll be seeing more of it over the next few years. Feel free to predict the next one. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if Reeve’s Batman part 2 leans into the serial killer themes and lets loose with the rating but that’s just me.

Look, MM didn’t cut it at the box office. The PD films didn’t cut it at the box office. Once again, they’re trying something new. Something some of us would have suggested a while ago but they’re finally getting there. I see this happening. Things change and TMNT had something like this coming.

I guess the question is if this film will be stand alone or if it will be one of those “soft reboot” films to the 90’s films like Jurassic World

Also, have we heard anything from the “villain movies” that we were told about?

Nice post that I agree with.
Your reasoning is wasted on CyberCubed.

Cybercubed is most likely suffering from Asperger's Syndrome.
When he gets interested in one thing, he keeps bringing it up incessantly.
When MM came out, he kept saying referring to April as "fat and black" in every post.

Okay thanks. I should have chalked it up to something like that.

Someone involved has hinted heavily to me that it will be in the 1990 film’s continuity but I’m betting nothing is actually set in stone at this moment.
