Dynamite's Captain Planet Reboot

From the writer of Space Ghost David Pepose

Quote:
"Five ordinary young people from around the world must become humanity's last hope after being chosen to wield elemental rings of Gaia, the High Priestess of Earth. Each Planeteer suddenly finds themselves equipped with abilities aligned with one of the world's elemental forces: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart. And in the most dire circumstances, the five can combine these powers together to summon the globe's greatest champion — Captain Planet! Kwame from Ghana wields the power of Earth. Wheeler hails from the United States and channels Fire. Linka's origins are in Russia and she can manipulate Wind. Gi traces back to South Korea and can control Water. Ma-Ti is from Brazil and uses Heart.

"Red-hot superstar writer David Pepose (Space Ghost, Cable) fuses his powers with artist Eman Casallos (Vampirella, Pathfinder) for the first comics series starring Captain Planet in over three decades. They're kicking off the story with an energized, yet faithful modernization of the franchise, in the same vein as Pepose's approach to the smash-hit Space Ghost series.

"Before these would-be eco-warriors can grasp their own newfound powers in pursuit of environmental justice, they're first going to have to learn to trust each other. It will be even more of a trial by fire experience when Gaia is kidnapped, forcing the inexperienced Planeteers to learn in action against the well-financed might of Lucian Plunder. Their first test against the ruthless exploiters of Earth won't be the hardest, but it all starts here!

I think he's better off locked away in a 1990s time capsule... preferably one made from bio-degradable materials.

Interest piqued. Always loved the concept, has a ton of potential that was never tapped. Of course, this could easily be soulless or loaded with bonkers politics, but I might give the trade a look.

Bazinga.

But yes, this had a certain charm in the 90's... but I am shuttering to think how cringe a modern adaptation is going to be.

The first three seasons of the show are pretty good and I often do rewatch them, villains like Zarm were too good for the show, loved Doctor Blight and Plunder too.

The Captain never will live down being darn near murdered by Hitler staring at him

How was the space ghost comic?

The character designs look fine, I think a comic could go either way. It has to be preachy enough to be captain planet b ut also entertaining enough to be captain planet. It needs to focus on the environment and not so much on other social issues. Though I won't mind if they make any of them gay except for Wheeler/Linka who are a ship.

They messed up Gaia's design though, she doesn't have blue eyes. Her facial features were specifically made to be a mix of people of every race.

Why is Linka russian? The show hinted she was from an ex-soviet state, not Russia. I'd say she's from the baltic states.

Gi is not Korean, the show kinda made her a one asian fits all with a role in any asian episode, ironically enough I don't think Korea was ever featured, but instead Malaysia and thailand. I think she seemed to have more ties to China and Japan though. Would make more sense for China to have a representative counting how much they pollute.

Where can I stream Captain Planet?

On the contrary, the Earth needs Captain Planet more than ever. We're now finally seeing the effects of not doing anything about it as he told us in the 90s.

Doesn't it currently air on MyToonTV? Also the whole thing is on DVD now, best thing to do is to support physical media.

Issue 2 solicit

Quote:
Gaia, the latest High Priestess of the Earth, is under siege by the villainous Lucian Plunder and his never-ending supply of deadly tech and malevolent henchmen. Her only hope is to summon her newly empowered Planeteers to wield their elemental forces of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart against her captors. But will the team be able to come together in time to bring the might of Captain Planet to bear against the polluters' industrial-strength treachery?
The answers lie within this second issue of the all-new Captain Planet, organically grown from the fertile talents of writer DAVID PEPOSE (Space Ghost) and artist EMAN CASSALLOS (Vampirella) – with compostable covers from CHAD HARDIN, CHRISTIAN WARD, BEN OLIVER, and connecting art from JAE LEE & JUNE CHUNG!
