Live-Action Last Ronin movie in the works

Of course they start working on a R-rated movie as the Company as a whole is on the chopping block.

Hope this happens and is done without Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes

Do a post-apocalyptic future R-rated Turtles tale on the big screen and then work backwards to get something like that of present day TMNT? ehhhh... maybe, I guess if that's the only option, but that still seems backwards.

Kinda hope they use Henson suits again and I like the idea of bringing back Elias Koteas as older Casey and Judith Hoag as Older April. Someone suggested that on Twitter.

This isn't Warner Brothers( The King of cancelling stuff) so I think this has a chance of happening

This is like... going too far in the other direction.

I just don't see The Last Ronin story having mainstream audience appeal. Hey look, all your favorite characters are dead. Here's a few that are old. And here's some you've never heard of. And the ending is sunshine and rainbows.

I guess I'll actually go to the theater, though.

It’s a good way to play the nostalgia angle, from a business standpoint. Look at No Way Home and it becomes the “safe” choice arguably.

Personally... I'd love for it to be a prequel film to the Last Ronin story.

Getting a more mature film (even just solid PG13 would be fine imo) and showing the world that the TMNT are not only some property for 7-year-olds would be fantastic. After 40 years they deserve that and if it happens then they better as hell hit a home run with it. BUT, while I enjoyed the Ronin story, I'm not crazy about something like this finally happening and then it's the story where the other 3 of them are dead. Plus Splinter and Casey. I would LOVE to see more of this Leo, Donnie, and Raph, but you know, alive. Not just as flashbacks or ghosts/figments of Mikey's imagination. If they bomb it and we then can't ever get a decent mature film that the other guys fully exist in, that'll suck.

Not going to hold my breath on it ever actually happening. Hell, it's hard not to be suspicious anymore that things like this are just false rumors. But if it happens, then it better be good and get that prequel...

Hope you guys need 5 more Mikey figures.

I don't even know where this R-rating thing is coming from. The book would barely even be considered that, if that. It's mostly Mike fighting the army of robots, right? It's just that by comparison to anything Nick has done with TMNT since 2009, Last Ronin suddenly seems like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The Lost Years prequel series was pretty graphic though; Mikey even beheaded a guy in issue #5.

I'm surprise that Nickelodeon are allowing it, Since they own the IP, Which means they won't be able to promote it due to it not being for kids.

I know a lot of people wanted this, But its such a huge gamble, Kids 13 and under won't be able to see it unless there are 17, But the parents will more then likely take the kids to see it, But it could potentially be too violent for children given the stigma of TMNT being a kids property.

I'm curious on how are they going to market this movie.

I doubt this will ever come out. What happened to the other live-action movie they were making? Was that canceled?

I remember we were getting both Mutant Mayhem and another live-action reboot, I guess the latter is done.

I think cause we've been desensitized to the turtles dying before like blind sight or same as it never was or idw donatello having his carapace crushed in with a sledgehammer.

Last ronins gore and death scenes is not even that graphic most the comics how the turtles die they cut away from splinters and the turtles ambush the night karai broke the truce.

you don't see leonardo and casey jones body being desentigrated by shrapnel and fire ripping throught their bodies or destroying April's arm and leg like saving private Ryan (like the end of vol.2 of mirage tmnt*) by baxter self destruction of his mousers and synjas in an explosion, you dont see donatello and splinter body being pelted with arrows impaled through donatellos eye socket and out the back of his head Its cut away only through a cancled sketch art for a cover shown his graphic death, Raphael getting stabbed under the chin with a kunai is a pretty tame kill and he got off easy fighting in the blaze of glory against a hoard of foot ninja.

the only dark deaths is a foot ninja getting eaten by cyborg crows, death worms henchmen gets a sai tossed in his head, or belly split open with a garden hoe, and splinter decaptiating foot Agents setting up a trap with minimal gore shots and minimal blood shaka bomb collar blowing out his neck instead of exploding his entire head. and hiroto orroku & Michaelangelo death isn't even dark they just free fall from the tower Michaelangelo breaks all the weapons and they duel in the sewers get washed down a stormdrain into a muddy creek bed and they both get fried from the nano tech suit electricity and Michaelangelo has blood loss from getting slashed across the plastron which they turn off the plot armor of having a healing factor in his secondary mutation.

the gore drama and violence isn't as outrageous or shocking like kevin eastman & simon bisley body count, the 1st and 2nd death of shredder by the turtles ganging up on him and leo decapitating a morally grey man groomed to be a criminal after finding out that yoshi killed his brother out of honor and self defense trying to prevent tang shen rape/ assault then they get murdered in a canon event for defecting from the foot or leonardo blind sight or zog the triceraton killed by the worm clones of shredder or stockman putting his brain in a robot mech or the times when casey accidentally killed a kid got rejected by april meeting marrying Gabrielle who dies and he raises her child as his own or the turtles realizing they have no purpose and are a doomed tragic family and the only ones of their kind.

Yes, the super gorey climax of Last Ronin: the main bad guy suffocates to death in a little puddle.

Still a little pissed that the turtles never wanted revenge on Bebop and Rocksteady. Even if they don't want to kill, they can still teach them a lesson by taking away their eyes, hands or feet.

I have reason to believe this is in fact based on the 1990 movie.
