As far as I'm concerned, Hob is the protagonist (and most interesting character) in this thing right now.
The state of affairs is so sad that it can't even be kept out of Ninja Notes month after month anymore... F*ck. |

Uh, what? Is the concept of being tired or malnourished so foreign to you that you don't recognise it? Or did you think Kafka was being literal when he said getting overworked turns you into a cockroach?

Lindsey's left hand is literally insectoid on the first panel of page 20; she keeps it hidden from Hob the rest of the time as he want's her to remain human, but clearly she's been affected by the bomb herself just to a lesser extent somehow.

I did not catch that. Maybe she knows she can keep it down by pumping the mutagen out of her system or by using some brake medication. In either case it could be evidence what she's really working on is a cure, rather than synthetic mutagen.

Oh, sh*t... I didn't notice that. The implications... And here we all were, expecting Stockman to go all Kafka on us.

got a theory about hobs plan, if the synthetic mutagen has the mind drug in it, the islands preservations are rarely visited by people, and he's clearly had a lot of weapons secretly stockpiled away. i think phase two is he's going to make a mutant training camp to make an army out of the animals there. guys about to go full on skonk/waco/jonestown.

Kinda odd the last few issues spent so much time tracking Hob down to lock him up (along with lengthy chase scenes that took up a lot of pages and the Raph/Hob fight), only for him to escape a single issue later and be out on the run again. So essentially the whole last issue capturing Hob is rendered pointless just one issue later. I mean I know they still stopped the other Mutanimals but there's some very weird "time wasted" feeling here.
There's only 20 pages per issue and spending so much time to do something just for the next issue to undo it is odd. |

So the end of issue 122 teases issue 123, And apparently there's a mutant tiger, Could it actually be TigerClaw?
Update: Sophie Campbell responded, He isn't https://twitter.com/mooncalfe1/statu...38924178165760 Quote:

But seriously, what's that now? You saying you're not hyped for yet another Hob vs Raph tussle that seems endless and goes nowhere and is now pretty much guaranteed to happen again in the not-too-distant future, and maybe even/almost certainly not for the last time? Come on, man! |

I don't care, Tiger Claw sucks as a character, there is no point in bringing him back for anything.

Not really, he's fairly incompetent and we're only meant to think he is a badass because the show keeps telling us he is without really showing it. As much as I don't want to say the writing of the Fred Wolf cartoon is good, because generally speaking it isn't, I will give it some comparative praise here. At least that show figured out it's version of Shredder was too incompetent to come across as cool early on, so they just made him a total goof by the third season. Not that Shredder should be a goof but they did realise that's all he could be. Nothing is more lame than a character we're told is cool but can't back it up.
What's probably worse than that is that he isn't even a consistent character. The show can't make up it's mind if he's in it for the money or loyalty, if he's willing to question his superiors or obey them to the point self-harm. He's not a character, he's the writer's toy. |
