Ultimate Collection 7 Coming January 2 2079!

You know, I knew it was taking quite a bit of time but I didn't realise delays could be this harsh. Well, let's just hope I'll live to be 86 then...

https://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutan.../dp/1684053889

Seriously though, when the hell is this damn thing coming out? It's already been years.

Oh, and just to hammer home how silly the date is, 2079 is literally the last year the first two issues will be under copyright protection. Come 2080 and the Turtles, Splinter, Shredder, April and Baxter will all be public domain.

Noooooooo! We need a TMNT / talespon type spin off series to protect their copy rights now.

I’ve been dying to know when this is supposed to come out too. I’ve had it preordered forever. Has anyone contacted IDW?

That's for the supposed kindle version, the physical version on that page has the date of 26th May 2020 (last year) but the kindle page also has the 2079 date in the information panel further down.
At any rate its moot point; Previewsworld, the site run by the Diamond distributors, no longer has listing for it and blog.gocollect's extended forecast for IDW lists the volume as cancelled:

https://blog.gocollect.com/idw-publi...or-02-17-2021/

I'm sorry to say it's probably quite unlikely Volume 7 will ever be released.

I will also continue updating the upcoming releases thread on a monthly basis, so keep an eye out there for any changes.

Vol. 7 was officially canceled by IDW a while back.

A collection of cover art from Mirage's early days along with some early sketches and some other unearthed behind the scenes materials.
There were no actual issues included but I can understand why many collectors would like to own a volume like this.

I know you're older than me but I seriously doubt you were born in the mid 1950's.

I maintain hope (foolishly?) that it will materialise in some form in the future - perhaps as a separate book disassociated from the 'Ultimate Collection'?

I hope this book is ultimately labelled as something else too. Like it's valuable content, it's just weird to have an artbook in the same series as trades. Especially considering the fact that there are still comics that could be collected in UC, The Fugitoid, Tales, Vol2, etc.

Well, given the term 'Ultimate Collection' one would assume that it would collect everything - which, of course, it doesn't. Rather it would be more appropriate to have called it 'The Eastman & Laird Collection" or something of that ilk.

I would love for an absolutely complete collection of all the Mirage (era) TMNT (all volumes, Tales, random stories etc.) to be printed in its original form (i.e. B&W) as I often find the colorization rather intrusive. It would also be appreciated if it were printed in chronological order rather than Tales stories separate from the main comic series etc.

Anyway, I'm waffling now ...

Yeah, I wouldn't rely on that particular company for anything. They used to be a pretty decent high street brand over here in the UK back in the 90's but since the turn of the century they've been dying a very slow death. Nowadays they're really only useful for basic stationary, cards and wrapping paper.
That being said I'm almost tempted to order a copy just to see what would happen.

Do WHSmith even still have stores outside of airports? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one outside an airport?

Yeah, there's two in different shopping malls near where I live, both about 4 miles away in opposite directions. You can also find one in most of London's railway terminals.
