Perhaps the bottom prices have been elevated by all this activity but well need more auctions to know for certain.

I think it's tough to draw conclusions from that page. On the one hand its a splash but on the other hand mostly of a truck. As a result its one where the bidding could go either way IMO. Bidders might get excited its a splash or deflated its mostly truck. I do think it would have brought more for Kevin but I think the bidding would have topped out at say 1500 even for him. Bottom line is sofistocat got a nice page at a nice price!

The newest piece in my art collection is one that I've longed to get made for quite some time. Finally came to fruition a few weeks ago! A parody of The Scream, featuring Leonardo (& surprise cameos by Krang/Shredder) by the wonderfully talented Mirage era TMNT vet, Mark Martin! My introduction to TMNT comics as a child was through Mark's work, so to have him bring one of my ideas to life is an amazing thing. My new favorite work of art.

Since you're mentioning it, here's a treat before I pass out. Thank you everybody for the compliments! I met the seller on my way back from FCBD and picked up the page. Seller is a really cool guy and has history with TMNT/Mirage/W&P Museum.

What I see in these pages are Lawson/Talbot when they were at the prime of the "old school" look. 2 mini-splash pages in sequence for $1250 in my book is today's FMV. Yes there is alot of the truck, but that's why I love it, it's Jim's passion onto the page. He's one of the coolest gearheads I know. He love mechanical stuff maybe more than Laird...If the truck had to be there to get Zog looking geared the FU*K up to do some carnage in a few pages, so be it... ZOG RULES.

EDIT: I re-read Bade Biker alot, would help explain the love for the truck. Love the Coker look and feel

The splatter is superb, you can tell Eric used multiple friskets to get the look. There is a ton of texture to these pages and the artwork, not the page itself) measures 15" x 10".

Those pages look great together! They have a similar layout , as if they belong together. Great pickups! Love that Mark piece too Powder - classic works with a TMNT twist, great idea. Reminds me of the back cover of a Mad Magazine I used to have which had TMNT works in a similar vein.

FCBD 2014 haul

TMNT #18 pg 11

TMNT 27 pg 31

TMNT 32 pg 15

TMNT #20 cover print (it's not OA, but I feel it has enough merit to be here)

TMNT #21 cover print (see above)

Bade Biker and Orson TPB that Lawson drew Orson on

Rich Woodall Captain America sketched cover

Books that will be CGC SS slabbed:

TMNT #1 2nd print signed by Eastman/Laird

TMNT vol. 4 #32 signed by Eastman/Laird/Lawson/Lavigne

Barbaric Fantasy #1 signed by Laird. I am so happy this is gonna go down! CGC normally doesn't grade hand stapled books, but I submitted a good amount of research(and thank you Archon_Turtle for taking pics of the interiors on your photo-hosting site! Clutch!) and it paid off. They are gonna SS slab Peter Laird's first published comic from 1972! WOO HOO

Damn, dude those pieces are amazing. I think you know how much I dig the RTNY page, hahaha.

Dig the Bode stuff too (I think it took me checking out his dad's stuff to get it, hahaha)

Where was that Dooney page? All I saw were the pages that were super expensive, I would've loved to grab something like that.

Thx bro, did you watch the 1971 video i mentioned? here's a link to the first video. Molly is Mark's wife, she posts alot of stuff. Mark just recently posted the original pics of Cheech Wizard he created at the age of 15 in 1957. To me that is some god-damned foward thinking for it's time...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRZZhTUCV7I

The Dooney page tucked in the 50 dollar book. It had a label that read #27? Dooney/Kelleher $100 I thought at first it was an unpublished page or something, then it dawned on me that #27 was a rdaical/carnage issue. I grabbed it before I saw you Saturday, which may explain why you didn't see it. I almost clotheslined the little kid grabbing the page. Definitely a good price IMHO.

Did you grab the other RTNY print? I need to find the #19 cover print STAT

Twas really good meeting you and Kate. Congrats again! I totally wanted to pick your brain about M-Audio a bit, next time...

Is that an original drawing, a stat, or a print? I love his style too.

Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not knocking people for buying up this stuff, I'd love to have original pages from that era. It's just such a missed opportunity that we'll never have a really slick trade paperback today scanned from the original art.

IDW Artist Editions are the perfect cure for your woes. Too bad there isn't a Cerebus or TMNT AE yet..... And so it shall be done by my word. haha

I ended up scoring this awesome Kevin Eastman splash from IDW's TMNT issue 21 during CAPS (Comic Art Professional Society) latest auctions for Stan and Sharon Sakai. It's always great when you are able to help a great cause and add great art to the collection. I have to say I am surprised I was able to get it as cheap as I did though. I was able to get it for half of what it was listed for on Kevin's website.
