Who knows.

Last rumor I heard - and it IS just a rumor, far as I know - is that some people want to push this "Cassandra Cain" from the BoP movie to be Batgirl in the movie.

Apparently a few websites are gushing over some crappy fan-art of the actress and thus the rumor. Basically someone ran a photo through a filter and drew a red bat on her face, and thus, "Batgirl".

It's WB, so this is as likely to actually happen as anything else! Also, I'd hate it, and their film division in its current form exists ONLY as a cosmic joke on me and me alone, so factor that in and the odds of it happening are approximately 120%!

As Denis Leary once sang in the opening line of "Downtrodden" on his legendary "No Cure For Cancer" album: "Everything is horrible!"

He's too old, he is the same age as me, but he is too old. Is it wrong to want a Caucasian with black hair in the role or if not black hair to wear a wig or dye it? Is it wrong to want that? Or is it a liberal sin? I want the character to look like he came off the comic page. I mean Bryce Dallas Howard a redhead wore a wig to be Gwen Stacey and did something different with the character at the same time. Kirsten Dunst could not help playing damsel, but a blonde who wore a red headed wig. Despite being opposite hair color they catered to the character's hair and clothing styles. I am asking an honest question here.

I am with you 100%.

But the media says we're both evil, hateful bigots who need to be educated and silenced. And they hold the pens.

Fidelity doesn't matter. Only the ol' Diversity Checklist matters.

Makes you wonder why they don't just do a Static Shock movie or something. OH WAIT, nobody cares, is why.

The only episodes I watched were the two parter with the Justice League vs Brainiac and the first of the two Batman appearances. Why did I watch it? For Batman. Static Shock is Black Lightning-lite. I like Jefferson as a Justice League ally. Cyborg is also a good character, he is like the Martian Manhunter of the Teen Titans. Not an elite name that everyone knows, but a major contributor to a specific team and is a great base coordinator. Though having Cyborg play Oracle may not make diversity champions happy and the fact he is a Teen Titan (even though Superfriends labeled him and Robin as Leaguers) I see it as what fits his character the best.

Why can't not just DC, but Marvel and others too make new characters? I probably say that on here once a week. If they want diversity don't latch onto an existing hero and create automatic weariness or dislike because its not the hero that we know. I am open to someone working with my established favorites over replacing them. People need to find creativity and not base it on existing. It does not work. Who was the last original character to get 100 issues at DC or Marvel? Combined title issues of Deathstroke created in 1980? Harley Quinn integrated in 1999 is coming close I think? Maybe Deadpool, a 1992 creation?

I feel like I am made to feel guilty over my wanting the characters to have the same skin and hair colors as the actual characters. If they don't it does not feel authentic. I am sorry, I don't want to be thought of as someone who puts things in boxes and it has to be a certain way. I am thinking in terms of my go to example, Raimi's Spider-Man or Batman:TAS, the first three of the four seasons anyway. It was authentic inspiration where they looked like the characters from the comics come to life, cared for and taken a life of their own in a direction that makes sense but also true to the character. Do something original while staying true to the character which includes looking like the character. Maybe I am just a fool who does not like change.

They'll tell ya that, but don't believe 'em. We're not wrong for wanting things to carry the qualities that we recognize and helped us to fall in love with these things in the first place. They're wrong for trying to convince us that only a name or a vague resemblance to the "official" costume matters.

Hopefully I'll live long enough to see things swing back around again.

Wow! This is wild. Birds Of Prey literally came out last month. And they are planning to release it digitally next Tuesday.

Cathy Yan basically blames everyone else for BOP Failing

https://comicbook.com/dc/2020/04/04/...reaks-silence/

"I know that the studio had really high expectations for the movie — as we all did. There were also undue expectations on a female-led movie, and what I was most disappointed in was this idea that perhaps it proved that we weren’t ready for this yet," Yan explained. "That was an extra burden that, as a woman-of-color director, I already had on me anyway. So, yes, I think there were certainly different ways you could interpret the success or lack of success of the movie, and everyone has a right to do that. But, I definitely do feel that everyone was pretty quick to jump on a certain angle."

Maybe the b!tch could have faithfully adapted the Birds of Prey with an accurate Cassandra Cain and included Barbara Gordon.

Wild idea, I know...

Ah, yes, everyone at fault that the movie was bad. But not her. Of course.

Its getting tiresome. On the other hand, after such a fiasco it is unlikely she would get to work on any big movie for a while, so it is good. Maybe it will do wonders to her humility.

Seems whenever they adapt Babs for TV, they keep her in the chair then (see also the ill-fated Birds of Prey TV series)

Good, Babs should never have been taken out of the chair. She was a role model for disabled people in her Oracle role.

Here is her interview dismissing the blame. If it was your decision to make the entire cast of characters in name only and withhold the key character it is your fault.

One of the complaints I heard about is with the portrayal of Cassandra Cain. In the Comics she becomes Batgirl after Barbara Gordon.

Pfft. Like Titans is any better. Strawberry $hit or vanilla $hit, it's different flavors of $hit.

No imminent plans for a sequel to this dumpster fire

Quote:
During an interview with THR, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) was asked if there are any plans in place for a follow-up, and didn't sound too optimistic. "I don't know," said the Harley Quinn actress. "Nothing imminent at this stage, nothing worth mentioning."
