I think it's the opposite. They're desperate to make the movie successful, so they are releasing all this merch to make people think they should see it.

A store brand? That's unexpected. Not sure I've ever seen a store brand do something licensed like that.

They took the stock art and backdrop from the movie and slapped it right on the front without much else being done. Pretty lame. I'm sure it'll work on kids though.

I generally don't pay any attention to tie-in items that just use the image on an existing product. As a kid we had Hostess TMNT vanilla pudding turtle pies, covered in green icing! See now that's effort!
