Rise of the TMNT Is Now on Netflix

Season 1 at least. But hopefully, they'll add season 2 before the movie is released. And here's the best part, the episodes are listed in the intended order!

  • Why only Rise?
  • Why only season 1?
  • Why not the 4Kids show or any other Paramount TMNT material?
  • What of Paramount+?

Season 1 of the 2012 series is on Netflix as well.

Considering the last season had less episodes and how little plot this show has, does it matter much? Maybe outside Draxum becoming good and Leo becoming the leader at the end but that's about it.

With the second season being shorter, I'm surprised they didn't just add all of it at the same time. Maybe they're hoping people looking for the rest will buy Paramount+ for it?

I was wondering that, seen as they put both 2012 and Rise on, otherwise I would have thought it was just a taster ahead of the movie. I've seen a couple of people tweet that '12 had gotten to number one in the kids section, not sure how long it lasted but someone must be watching, unless they just stick things in that spot to promote them. We didn't get it in the UK. Still, they're not the only things to get one season streaming on Netflix.

Interesting. Not sure how to see where something is ranked (might be a feature my tv's app version doesn't have?), but went and looked and 2012 is at least in the general "trending" lineup on the home screen. Rise is not, but still included under "popular" elsewhere.

Don't forget the Shredder plotline, an incarnation of Krang being involved in the dark armor's existence, and the Foot Recruit being revealed to be Rise's version of Casey Jones.

Smart move, with the movie coming to Netflix in around two months to prime the kid audience for watching it.

There was one synopsis that said Casey Jones was the visitor from the future that was sent to warn them about the Krang. Probably a descendant of Cassandra Jones if I had to guess.

If the series had been allowed to develop along the course it had been I'm absolutely positive the producers/directors had a long term plan and vision with Casey...unfortunately the backlash meant that all those complaining about "Casey Jones" being female never got to find out that wasn't actually Casey Jones at all (as it seems here)...

They did a few things like that in the series, misdirection and subterfuge...

Happy that whatever small Rise fandom there is, we got a bit of a send off in the form of the movie.

I just hope this comes to UK Netflix. No sign of Season 1 in the UK...

Raph seems to be infected by some sort of virus/parasite in the trailer.

It's as if they shouldn't have pulled a 2012 and injected those elements on the Foot Recruit in the first place.

This series wasn't for me but I'm sincerely glad that it's fans have finally gotten this after being promised it for so long. That being said...

This is something that I don't care for in modern interpretations of classic IPs. When something is drastically re-imagined but the makers justify it that this is showing the beginnings of how x becomes the character or concept we know and love. Unless it's actually a prequel it almost always comes across as not even bothering to try. A very relevant example of this is how Platinum Dunes clearly had zero intention of doing Casey Jones, they just wanted an original character and passed it off as Casey. Even in projects that the intention is sincere it's still feels like a waste...like I totally believe that Chloe Zhao wanted to show the Deviants evolving into something more resembling the comic version and we see beginnings of that in the Eternals movie but who knows if that movie will ever get a sequel so we may never get to see a proper Eternals movie.

Also I can't help but feel whatever their intentions with Casey Jones, had they not drastically altered a lot of the core TMNT mythology maybe people would have been more open to seeing were they were taking the character.
