The Last Ronin: Predict the new Turtles

Couldn't find a topic for this anywhere, please correct me if I'm wrong.

So, now that the last issue of The Last Ronin has been out in the wild for some time, I think it's about time we discussed this matter.

What are your predictions and/or hopes for the new turtles that are set to appear in The Lost Years and eventual sequel?

Will it be another all-male team, an all-female, or mixed?
How will they be named?
What colors will they have?
What weapons will they use?
Will they have new types of personalities?

Lets see..

1. I anticipate it will be mixed. There is no reason not to and a 'fresh' team to take up a mantle would be a good time to do it instead of shoe horning the ladies in for no reason (taking up space other more established ladies should have).

2. Considering its in the future, they may do 'modern artist' names? Picasso, Banksy, Stella (Frank stella, but this would be a good female name), any any number more. I think this would be a neat link between new and old.

3. I hope they keep the standard colors we know and love. It will give us something to grab onto for their personalities and their legacies.

4. I dont even know where to start with this one. This is a good time to look at more contemporary weapons, especially considering they (potentially) wont have formal ninja training. While I hope that they keep the colors/personality pairings, I also hope they break up the weapons. There are so many options that would look awesome.

My hope for a turtle in the setting?

Banksy, the Red masked hot head swinging a huge Iron Tetsubo.

1. I also anticipate it will be mixed. There is no chance there will be less than one lady in the team, but I don't think they'll go for an all-female team either. I predict it will be an even split.

2. I hope they continue the "tradition" of renaissance artist names, but since I can't name a single female artist from that era I don't think that will be the case. I agree with Bahamut810, I think we'll get more modern artist names, but it doesn't necessarily need to be artists as in painters or sculptors, but maybe musicians, authors or poets. It'll be Casey Marie's turtles after all, so the names will probably fall in line with her personality and interests. One thing I do hope for though is that we'll get Bernini.

3. I'm hoping for brand new colors, so that we can easily distinguish these turtles from the originals. Lets not forget though that these turtles seem to be of different species, so perhaps that'll help distinguishing them from each other rather than what color they wear. It would be cool if they started with one common color, like the originals started with red, and then move over to individual colors. As for what colors, I predict yellow, pink, teal and brown. I would've liked a brown turtle with a green mask though, but they all seem to have green skin.

4. There's obviously a lot of options to pick from. I could see them use the original's weapons as a legacy thing, but I think they'll go for unique ones.

5. I think they'll be close to the originals personality-wise, but they obviously need to be unique.

I wouldn't mind if they choose names from astronomy, like stars, planets, satellites, constellations.

I got the hardcover and read the series all at once, as opposed to when I read it over the two year release cycle.

I’d say it definitely read better that way. I still think the series peaks at issue #1, but I also have a new appreciation for the “meta” aspect of the story. Kevin is the Last Ronin. There are parallels between fiction and reality here, if you look for them. There are parallels between Kevin and Mikey. At least that’s how I choose to read into it.

It’s really beautiful that Kevin is still around and giving a finale to his creations.

But really, the first issue is so finely crafted, in comparison to the following issues. It feels like it just had more time put into it. There’s a steady rhythm to the pacing. Obviously deadlines were an issue with the book.

Complete opposite of this. Enough with the SJW agenda. It doesn’t work. No one wants to read/watch it. We are the consumers and we have a choice about what to spend money on. I thought about picking up IDW until Jennika was forced upon us.

Slash was a well-written character compared to Jennika. I loved the big buy, and his sacrifice in #88 tugged at my heartstrings. He’s an example of a true hero.

Despite my gender, I sympathize more with the male characters than I do with the female characters, with Alopex being the only exception. I did like Alopex, but unfortunately she got replaced by that yellow-band-wearing Mary Sue.

I get that. Although I'm not a big fan of Alopex either. With the acception of Slash and Metalhead, I really don't want a 5th Turtle.

I don't think he was a well written character as he didn't really do all to much. I also don't think Alopex got replaced with Jennika because they were not doing much with Alopex before Jennika got turned into a turtle.

If you're going to do a "Next Gen" turtles, then yeah, go for something different. 4 characters who have a sibling dynamic, but mix it up. 2 brothers, 2 sisters, some combination, maybe have one turn rogue early on?

Alopex did get the short end of the stick, but it seemed like just don’t know what to do with the character since the whole Foot Clan thing.
