OK, so it seems the main TMNT comic is still a mixed bag. I'm... intrigued though, at least?

This Sera doesn’t seem to be the See-You-Next-Tuesday the Mirage version was. Hope it sticks.

Two references to the 2012 Nickelodeon series: Space Heroes and Bigfoot. Hmm.

Did anyone recognize the sweater and stocking cap that April was wearing in the Punk Frogs story?

I missed that before. Oops.

This was still a solid issue though. Neat trick Venus pulled too.

Brilliant issue that integrates seamlessly with the AG event mini. Didn't read like Campbell at all and the art was outstanding once again.

Just out of curiosity, what are your opinions on comic book events.

Do you prefer if the titles in said even tell the stories through one another? For example you are obligated to read a comic lie: Title A #32 -> Title B#32 >Title C #32 ->Title A #33. An example of this could live found in the recent Power Rangers Eltarian War.

Or do you prefer an event where you have just the main story + side content that just expands on parts of the story. One example that comes to mind is Spiderverse.

Looks like from the content here that this is only still the "main series" in the sense that it carries the numbering. Even though it introduces some new elements, it mostly took place in parallel with AG #1 and it seems like the new elements will get explained better in AG #2. It feels like Waltz wrote AG #1 and #2 independently of this and Campbell just sort of wrote some filler that wouldn't contradict those issues.

I could go both ways depending on my level of interest in said event, but an interspersed reading order like AG's tends to get more confusing.

I tend to agree but credit where it's due for Tom Waltz putting out the reading order ahead of time.

There was a lot more mutant town in this one and more focus on Jennika and to a lesser extent Venus, while Don was just providing a recap of everything happening so far. The art looked good here, much better than the last few issues where everyone looked kinda ugly or off-model.

Overall though I think the series suffers from what it always has, they have to juggle way too many characters at the same time for screentime. We now have 3 (!) female mutant turtles (Jenninka, Venus and Lita), still the various mutant town mutants (Mona Lisa, the ant, the lesbian pig, all the others), now we have Carmen and the Regenta, while April/Casey/Angel/Alopex are still around in the background, and then we still have the Turtles off doing various things.

Also who were the dog people at the end of the issue? Even as someone who cosumed 99.9% of TMNT content over the last 30 years, they didn't look familiar to anyone.
