Complete Newspaper Daily Comic Strip Collection Vol. 1-3

This is unexpected, but a random publisher has listed three collected volumes of the TMNT Newspaper comicstrip that ran from 1991-1996!

$30ish each.

Vol 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1387338293

Vol 2: https://www.amazon.com/dp/138731288X

Vol 3: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1387278916

No clue on the quality since Lulu is a print-on-demand service.

Well, damn. Amazon says I have 30 days to return them, so I'll be the guinea pig. And I want to grab them before Viacom yanks 'em.

Hm, so self published then. Hey, whatever works. Made up a little book quite a few years ago that we got some printed copies of via Lulu and it was decent enough. Hopefully the quality is as good if not better today.

Wish these were cheaper, the comic was never in our local paper and didn't even know it existed until someone mentioned it here one time, so I'd grab them immediately if they weren't like almost $90 in total and need to put that money elsewhere.

I went ahead and got them as well. If it turns out to be what I hope it is, I can't risk not getting it. Who knows if I'll have the chance later?

My set of books arrived today. They look quite nice! I am not disappointed at all. This is such a nice surprise to have these available now. Volumes 1 and 2 include a nice introduction explaining the history of both strips. Volume 1 contains the UK strips, which are all printed in color. Volumes 2 and 3 contain the US strips. As I said in the other thread, I never thought that I would get the collected Turtles comic strips AND the original score for the 3rd movie in the mail on the same day. Both used to seem like a pipe dream. Pretty awesome!

Oh no, I hope it comes back. But this is exactly why I bought all of them immediately. It's print on demand, so I'm worried Viacom got to them already.

Went ahead and ordered the first two volumes, but yeah, now I'm worried I waited too long on Vol.3, the most desirable of the bunch. I was waiting to hear about folks' reception of the books before buying.

Anyhoo, I think I've been able to locate most of the late run newspaper strips myself via Newspapers.com and Florida Today, which nobly carried it all the way to the end.

So I am confused, this is some random person self-publishing this without Viacom's permission and so it's technically not legal?

Just got mine today, and from the sound of it, It's a good thing I got all three right away. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The books are good quality, the binding is solid, and true to his word, EVERY SINGLE STRIP is in here. It's nice to finally have a solid, complete run, and to finally be able to read the whole thing without having to track down a bunch of different incomplete archives.

Since they're all scanned, the images are a bit faded in some places, but honestly, what can you do when you're working from old newspapers and microfiche? The fact that this book exists at all is an achievement. And when the "official" channels won't do it, where does that leave you. Honestly, I can't imagine the time that went into actually putting this thing together, ultimately all for the sake of only a few people who are going to read it and who even knew to look for it in the first place.

Also, there's a lot of good Dan Berger art in here.

If you find yourself with a chance to pick these books up, I would implore you to do so.

...

I'm not sponsored. But still, GET IT WHILE YOU CAN!

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like its a whole new listing too:

Old Page

Only after receiving Volumes 1-2 yesterday and finally getting them in hand did I notice the cover art makes the curious choice of using Michelangelo without his chucks. If it were only the case for Volume 1, I would have thought it appropriate (being the UK's censor-happy "Hero Turtles") but it does look funny.

Glad volume 3 is back in stock, picked up all 3.

Has anyone figured out if these are official or just bootleg?
