IDW/Mirage hybrid adaptation?
For some reason, possibly seeing that cringe inducing motion comic right before the PD3 news, I got to thinking about what a show adapting IDW would be again. The common counterpoint I tend to see is that there's too little material to work with, something I don't really agree with. Even if you needed to to combine four issues to make a single episode, you'd still end up with roughly fiftyfive twenty minute episodes, which could be broken up into four thirteen to fourteen episode seasons.
But let's say I did agree with the idea that it's too short to make work, what about throwing in a few Mirage stories? The thing about Mirage is that a lot of the stories aren't very continuity heavy, loosely connected episodes if you will. A couple of them should be rather easy to fit into the IDW continuity, if you'd really want to. Obviously you can't make Turtles in Space fit, but Donatello's micro shouldn't be a problem. Nor should many of Tales issues. What do you say, could this work? |

Obviously, yes, with the right people doing it.
Will it happen? Nah.

Since many Mirage stories aren't intended for younger viewers, why not IDW-4 Kids hybrid? (since 4 Kids in general is "Mirage for children and family").

There's already a few comics for it:
(Removed the other two since it’s from the internet.) Last edited by Shark_Blade; 06-22-2018 at 11:36 AM. |

2015, it’s on the IDW app (probably there’s hardcopies back then too).
I believe they’re new stories, not reprint. |

Dreamwave 2003
These comics look just like the Dreamwave issues from 2003.

I think you are saying you want Mirage as the primary influence? Well, I thought it already was. Or is it story-line adaptations? 4Kids did that with the 2003 cartoon for the most part.
Yes, that is just reprints of the seven Dreamwave issues. Too bad we did not get the Turtle Terminator, but its not important compared to Forever War.

Wrong, it’s 2012 (in the comics credits but on the app it says 2015).
Go check for yourself I’m tired of you idiots. |

The covers you posted are originally from the 4kids Dreamwave comics. That's a fact, it cannot be debated.
It's possible IDW reprinted them (if only digitally?) but yeah, no question. The Dreamwave logo is still on two of the three you posted. If the app uses those covers for some other comics, be it deliberate or by mistake, fine, but that doesn't change what they were made for. Don't smugly call people idiots when you obviously are out of the loop yourself.

I don't mind admitting I'm wrong, but since I don't do smartphones, I can't check it for myself. I would be greatly surprised if they just put up scans of the old issues, or repurposed some things for legal reasons. I remember Dreamwave went kaput for bad business decisions and burned a lot of bridges with their licenses. Did some other company buy up the legal remains of DW or did the right to reprint the licensed material revert back to the copyright holders of the Intellectual Property?
Can anybody share a screenshot of the IDW Turtles App store?

The level of willful ignorance in this thread by one person is just too damn high.

not even the point, dude. This thread isn't even about discussions of the Dreamwave comic. It was to show Shark_Blade that the Dreamwave comic is from 2003 by showing a thread from 2003 talking about the debut of that comic.
