Playmates TMNT 2-Packs

The Toys On Fire toy store in Ottawa, Ontario has pre-orders for more 2-packs by Playmates (non-Cobra Kai related).

There is Leonardo vs. Rocksteady, Michelangelo vs. Bebop, Donatello vs. Shredder, and Raphael vs. a Triceraton.

Link here: https://mobile.twitter.com/preternia...58333951021056

These will be based on the classic television show.

Wouldn't it be an incredible surprise if Playmates suddenly churned out Fred Wolf animated style two packs that were terrific and at probably half the price point of NECA's stuff?I'm just saying that in a perfect world that would be an amazing surprise given Playmates history. But watch these toys instead just be two-pack re-releases of those articulated 6" toys from some years back that we all had high hopes for. NOTE TO MIKEY0 - that last sentence was just supposition. I'm not actually asserting that Playmates is re-releasing the old 6" toys as two packs now, alright?

Already there in some ways, man. Especially with the boutique foreign toys all over the market as well.

man Playmates is so desperate. Are they gonna reuse the same old boring sculpts they do for all their recent releases?

That's what I was wondering as well. Basically just re-release their "articulated classic's" from some years back that they claim where "animated' but in fact were just articulated, taller versions of the 1980's toys.

So these packs are purely to now try and keep neca out of retail.

I expect the same classics figures they have brought out numerous times with maybe the truce region being a remold of bebop or rocksteady. Even then that’s more effort than playmates has put into tmnt for years. But it’s still all to specifically go to the same price point/scale neca is at to snuff them out at retail.

There’s a reason neca is at the price point, scale, and section of target they are at.

I got my issues with NECA. But if this is the case, and it probably is, I won't be buying any Playmates.

How the actual F*CK does Playmates stay in business?!

Jesus CHRIST, they're the absolute drizzling sh*ts. Is there anyone actually worse at making toys right now than Playmates? Like seriously, anyone at all? I know Jazwares used to suck, but they apparently got better. So now I'm pretty sure Playmates is the King of Sh*t Mountain.

Man, too bad Mattel or McFarlane can't get the TMNT license, thanks to this worthless f*cking company keeping a stranglehold on it, which in turn is probably the only reason they still exist, even though they don't deserve to.

Tell me those pics are a joke.

If that **** is real, I hope this is the final nail in the coffin, with Viacom totally releasing Playmates exclusivity over the license altogether. Let's face it guys, 20s Playmates is a wholly different company from 80s/90s Playmates.

Echoing EddieNES, if you guys buy this, that's your choice, but I'll also be disappointed. Your dollars translate to "please keep doing this, we have no standards".

Playmates Executives: "These TMNT fans are such suckers, they'll buy anything. Let's sell them some repaints of a bunch of stuff they didn't even want when they were new, six f*cking years ago!"

Seriously. These are probably even the exact same stock they had to buy back from stores after they didn't move on Clearance after they were marked down to four bucks. I wouldn't doubt it.

There's no way they actually produced these things new using the old molds. That would be insane, for them to actually spend money doing that. Nobody bought these ugly pieces of sh*t the first time! JESUS!

I swear to God this company is run by drunken chimps. There's no other explanation for the moronic decisions they persistently make.

I'm surprised how bad Playmates is these days as their 2K3 turtles were quite pleasant to look at.

Mattel and McFarlane would make pretty decent turtle figures (especially McFarlane with respect to IDW, image and mirage). On a side note, I really hope NECA or Super7 secures the rights to the BTAS license (considering the cost of securing them from the aftermarket). They're the only companies that would go beyond the core cast. I have my fingers crossed after seeing the Goliath debut.
