Thanks, it looks to be sold already! I managed go get it on Amazon with shipping to Ireland. At least, I know that I won't have yo pay customs. Most sellers on eBay are from the US or UK and unfortunately I can't buy from the UK since Brexit.

I've been watching the Paramount+ box set for the past week binge watching the episodes. I'm starting the Back to the Sewer season today. I don't seem to find anything wrong with the picture but the black bars at the sides are a bit distracting The bumpers can be a bit annoying at times too. Pity about the close up of Tengu Shredder's face being cut in half as well being cut from the final episode of Season 5 as well. Still nice to have a complete series box set though. I bought myself a copy of the Turtles Forever region 2 DVD as well. I'm starting to buy the older DVD's for the 2003 show. Any Australian members on here have a spare Season 4 Part 1 or a Season 3 Part 1 I could buy?

I'm not sure I understand. What's the alternative to black bars on the sides? Either stretching, cropping, or some kind of distracting graphic? The show was created in 4x3.

NTSC DVDs have a fixed resolution of 720x480, which if shown with square pixels would be a 3:2 aspect ratio. They're not shown like that. They're either squished or stretched horizontally by the player into a 4:3 aspect ratio or a 16:9 aspect ratio respectively. You end up with non-square pixels in both cases.

If you have material that is natively 4:3 like TMNT 2k3 then the smart way to make the best use of that fixed 720x480 space is to fill that entire 720x480 area with your video. The player will squish it to 4:3 and then (if viewing on a 16:9 screen) add the black bars to the sides. The video will be displayed correctly on both a 4:3 and 16:9 display. The stupid way to do things is to encode the DVD as though it's only ever going to be displayed on a 16:9 screen. You then have only 540x480 of area being used for video with the remaining 180 horizontal pixels dedicated to black bars. You lose a quarter of your available resolution. That's what they did here.

If people think these DVDs look good enough, then good on them. I'm glad they're happy. I'm not going to buy it.

I take it these are bootlegs? I managed to get Season 1 Parts 1 and 2, Season 2 Parts 1 and 2, Season 3 Part 2 (Region 4), Season 4 Part 2 (Region 4), Ninja Tribunal, Fast Forward Future Shellshock, Fast Forward Day of Awakening, Back to the Sewer Vol.1 Something Wicked, Back to the Sewer Vol.2 City Under Siege all from ebay. Surprised I could even still get them.

I have been watching these episodes, and I just set my TV picture setting to “Zoom”, which removes the horizontal black bars. Still have the vertical bars but that is how I watched the FW series as well, so I am happy with it.

One question…on the Season 2 episode “Turtles In Space: The Big House”, does anyone else’s sound briefly cut out when Leonardo announces that he grabbed spoons from the cafeteria to use as weapons? On mine, the audio goes silent as soon as he starts saying “spoons”. Is that on all the versions or was my disc messed up?

I am getting this set for my birthday later this month and I can't wait to watch it. I have never owned any of the TMNT Cartoons on home media before.

This happened with me too. I might just end up selling my Ultimate Collection box set. I have a spare box set still inside the shrink wrap, I wonder if that one has the same problem too. Still wondering why they cut out the part of Tengu Shredder being sliced in half up close but they didn't edit poor Baxter falling apart in the Insane In The Membrane episode. I managed to get all the older DVD's on eBay.

The box for the Ultimate Collection is a bit dodgy, I can't seem to get the box fully closed and feels like the thing is going to fall apart. I treat the box like a it's a bomb because I'm afraid of breaking the box I actually managed to get all the older 4kids DVD's off eBay again thankfully. Is there a difference between the special features of the Australian and Americans releases of the old Season 1 volumes? I had the Australian Season 1 volumes but the last four volumes didn't have any video bios like the first 4 volumes which had the short video bios for the turtles. I've noticed on Youtube there's a short Shredder bio video and a few others like the Sewer Slider, Razor Jet and Baxter's Exo-Suit are these on the American releases?

It's a print on demand job so every aspect of the project is going to have that level of quality.

Magna Pacific rarely included any extras on their DVD releases in Australia. The DVD releases in the USA, included a stack of extras in comparison.
Be sure to avoid the season 2 DVD releases from Australia too, as one episode (Return to the Underground) was missing 1 minute in the middle.

I went ahead and ordered the region 1 releases of the Season 1 volumes, it's a pity the season sets didn't come with special features. I have a spare set of the old 4kids DVD's I'm looking to sell as well. I managed to get all the older 4kids DVD's brand new finally. I actually own three sets of the old 4kids DVD's now. I'm keeping the brand new ones in the shrink wrap then I'm keeping a set for myself to watch then selling the third set. Not sure how much to sell them for. Was thinking about putting them up on eBay. Including the region 2 release of Turtles Forever in the set and the region 1 release of Season 4 which comes with the 4kids short episodes.

I doubt "Mayhem from Mutant Island" was included so it's not really a complete set sadly.

At least the missing extras are still on YouTube for people to watch along with all the other shorts.

Do many people even buy DVD's anymore? With the streaming and that new box set, I'm not sure if many people would be willing to pay extra for the older ones. Was going to put Seasons 1-7 and Turtles Forever up for sale on eBay but not sure what would be the best price to charge for them. How much would the older 4kids DVD's be worth now?

I was watching the extras on the Season 1 volumes the other day, the final part of Totally Made-up News Team was really random Mikey phoning the news reporter and Splinter getting annoyed at him slapping his head telling him to hang up
