Things that people think will stay in style but won't?

What are some things, you reckon? Here is one, I'd wager that history would be on my side with:

Yep. Especially when it comes to fashion/style.

As for trends in general... remember when "swag" was a thing back in 2011-2013? No one seems to say that these days anymore.

I hear it in terms of "Swag Bags" at marathons, still. "Make sure you pick up your swag bag!" or such.

I think it's more a thing of "This thing is totally a trend!" thing that isn't actually a trend at all. Like "brow crowns" or whatever madness that is...

It's already have been answered, but, yes, basically everything.

A lot of people incapable of thinking beyond what they see right now. They believe that reality they live here and now is the only one and, despite evolution of technology and society, it will always stay the same.

This is the root of all of those oldfarts crying about how children are stupid and how everything back in the day was so much better.

One of the most obvious examples of this are science fiction stories about the future - even if you have some fantastic stuff in them, like rockets, interplanetary travels, colonies on other planets, society and style in general usually are portrayed as the same as in the era, when creator of this story lived.

Phones are going to continue to change and evolve. You compare phones today to ones from the early 2000's, then ones from the 90's, then the 80's or prior...it's amazing how much phones continue to change.

Eventually we may not even need to carry a small phone on us, everything will be virtual reality with a small ear piece.

Yes, please, they've taken over a too much for too long.

Just try to be a woman these days and find jeans that aren't skinny or jegging. Maybe they're the trend, but sucks there is little room for anything else. A good pair of low rise somewhat relaxed bootcut is close to impossible now.

Also I think some might consider DVDs to have staying power but I’m thinking they will be gone as VHS.

Blu-ray too. I think it and DVD may end up pretty much going out together as digital takes over. Really used to figure a little chip would replace them, but I guess we're skipping over that right into digital. (Maybe a chip will still be a thing someday given digital's own limitations.)

Yeah I think physical music and comics will stay around much longer than DVDs. Tattoos have stayed around in popularity for a pretty long time. It would be surprising to see that go away.

I believe post-modernism will eventually run out of fashion.

The longing for eighties/nineties nostalgia/Retro-ism seems to be fading away.

Also, peplum dresses/skirts/shirts are going out of style.

I wonder what the next big music genre/style craze will be. Remember dubstep back in 2011-2012? And reggae being big in the mid-late 2000s?

Eh... I dunno, really. Reggae and reggaeton really are not my element. Tbh I don't know what the diff between both is. Regardless, around 2007-2010 I saw many teenagers/young adults getting into reggae-like music, and some even claimed to be Rastafari or trying to get into that lifestyle.
