How do you feel about Casey Jones catch phrase "Goongala!"
Casey Jones catch phrase, "goongala" originated in the Mirage comics and then found its way into the 2k3 series and Nick cartoon. He also used it in IDW a few times.
As far as I can remember he never said it in the original movies or original cartoon though. How do you feel about Casey Jones shouting, "Goongala!" |

Always hated it, even in Mirage.

"Terrorist organisation called Goongala-Cowabunga".
I don't know, I guess I like it? It's unmistakable. Unlike Cowabunga I'm pretty sure it really does originate with TMNT. |

I like it, but I prefer "I've gotta break something!"

It’s ok. Not bothered by it.

I don't care as long as it isn't overused.

When I first read the comic, I interpreted it as Casey yelling out the names of his two sticks in that context. "Goongala" and "Goongala." Not a battle cry, per se. I'm not even sure if I was wrong about that... I'd have to re-read.

It's classic, but I dislike it. & I say that as someone whose fav non-turtle character is the very man we speak of.

It's goofy but I always kind of liked it. It's like he's calling all the goons to his gala of pain!
Way better than Cowabunga and Booyakasha. At least it was... original. |

Since someone mentioned Cowabunga, even though Cowabunga didn't originate in the Ninja Turtles I've always associated it with the TMNT property. But I notice many people think of Bart Simpson when they hear/see the word instead.

I actually looked into it more and read somewhere that it was taken from an old Tarzan movie. An old drome thread seemed to suggest this was confirmed by Dan Berger.
Bill Murray’s sounds similar but phonetically not quite the same. Wish I knew what Tarzan movie but I doubt they even know for sure, there are lots from the 30s. |

After the first couple of times he yells it I just start thinking "Shut up, Casey." So not really no, not a fan of it.
If he must say it, I prefer Nick's pronunciation and coming from someone young. But 2003 Casey... omg just stop. You're a grown man and sound like a weirdo yelling it. (Though I do like that series episode related to the origin of it.) |
