See, that’s what made it all come together!

The original was one of my favorite shows growing up. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Maybe among fanbases and some of the original cast, but in the eyes of corporate executives, nothing ever was.

Did they keep the OG theme tune?

There are classic music cues throughout but no intro theme sequence, as those seem to have fallen out of favor for dramas.

I've been slowly working through the original series and I'm only on episode 5. Episode 5 features Sam leaping into a veterinarian who gets caught up in a game to marry a tough as nails female Rancher named Tess McGill( no relation). The whole premise of the episode is to get him to woo Tess and marry her, but if we learned anything from Wonder Woman 1984 this is problematic. So I'm beginning to wonder what they're going to do with the new Quantum Leap when this situation comes up and the new guy leaves into somebody who's got to fall in love with a woman. In fact how is it going to work when not Sam leaps into somebody who's a person of color or a woman in this one. In the original series it seems like Sam leaping into a woman was played for laughs but that's also problematic nowadays. I'm not sure how the show is going to work

I always figured the leaped-in souls who return to their bodies after Sam's adventures at perhaps the most pivotal moment of their lives had to have been in for rude awakenings!

Did we as a culture really learn any lessons from WW84?

I watched the first episode and thought it was passable. I think there’s a missed opportunity in Ernie Hudson not playing the Al character, and I’m not a big fan of the love interest subplot. I also wonder if we’ll see more back at the project in this show. In the old show the focus was on Sam and Al. People at the project were often mentioned but never seen. Seeing them often may take away from the leap story, although Ernie is probably my favorite actor on the show. Hard to judge completely from one episode but I’ll keep watching for now.

Furries are probably hotter on paper than they would be in real life?

I will grant you that one.

Weirdly, I have yet to see WW84 but I always feel like I have due to reading/watching summaries and critiques.

Actually that photo has me second-guessing my statement. "Mrowr" indeed!

(I was trying to hyperlink that in my response to imply some humor but trying to post on a tablet seems to limit my html options.)

It's sad how dedicated fans can just about always cosplay better than a multi-million dollar studio budget can CGI something.

Episode 2 had more in he “spectacle” department. Back story may or may not prove interesting. They debuted the show’s intro this week; it kinda stinks.

He was in the last episode as well, of course.

Also true. You'd be surprised where good ole Cousin Bruce shows up.

I just started the second season. I'm on episode 4 where Sam first leaps into a woman also named Sam. I do wonder if they understand that with the new show based on the same universe people might go back to the original series and some of those people may look at the old series and be appalled by some of the plot lines. Watching episode 4 of season 2 through that lens I can't help but laugh at what probably would be going through the minds of certain people. It's an episode that establishes that Al doesn't see Sam when he looks at the person he lept into like we do he sees that person and so Al is immediately attracted to the woman because you know in the original Quantum Leap Al is lecherous womanizer. He even sees the company shrink who tells him that him falling for Sam as girl Sam is brought on by his repressed homosexual urges. All things that nowadays would probably be considered problematic considering Sam and drag is played for laughs at times. Again mostly Playing devil's advocate here.

The original series is likely to be found offensive by the modern unhinged lunatic left. Soon it will likely be censored, full episodes removed or stuck with some sort of warning label. This is why I don't rely on digital only versions of entertainment.

Good. I hope it does offend.

I really miss the days when drag was played for laughs.
