Snagged Karai off Amazon for $38. Technically my second one, but I won't get my wave 10 until Christmas.
I really like parts of this figure, but she feels like she's from the G.I. Joe Ultimates line more than TMNT though. I do love how much inspiration she draws from her original Mirage look mixed with 2k3, but through the lens of a cartoon. The paint work on her wraps are incredible, even though I know it's just airbrushing. The blue highlights in her hair give her some needed depth. The weapons over all are good, even if I'm tired of getting so many of the hook and daggers - at least these are a different color! I'm disappointed by her torso being stuck due to the rubber cover and I really wish she had a little more range in her elbows. The Foot Ninja mask is a fun accessory as a take on "human" Foot Soldiers in the cartoon/toy world. But it doesn't quite hit the mark on the figure since her neck is fully exposed. I might end up customizing this one into a human Foot soldier. I really wish she came with a rubberized scarf too like Shredder and Splinter did, but she's a fun What If...? kind of figure. |

I think you nailed it, she does give off distinctive G.I. Joe Ultimates vibes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but a bit off. The exposed neck is a wasted opportunity for an army builder for human foot soldiers. And, the felt scarf is way too thick and jarring as far as texture choice. Rubberized scarf would have sufficed. Overall, I really like the figure despite the very limited posability. |

GITD Wingnut, which seems to be one of the more cooler glow figures in the line doesn't appear to come with additional hands, alternate mug (e.g. the batman-inspired head-sculpt) or the cape (batman-inspired), despite the same price tag, I believe.

What’s taking Super7 so long to reveal the next waves?

My assumption is that they're trying to catch up with all the unreleased stuff first. It's a bit of a bad look to have a bunch of stuff announced but have way, waaaaay more unreleased.
Or at least, this is my hope. Part of me is worried about this line getting cancelled, since so many other Super 7 Ultimates lines have. But this is their best selling line, I'm pretty sure, right? Anywho, the next wave's been teased, at least. But I have a bad feeling some people may be upset since it's another 2k3 wave. And I have no qualms about it, and I think I know why it's a 2k3 line, since I think stuff got shuffled around a bit, but since the plan's always been to alternate between vintage and 2k3, I understand coming to assumptions based on the next wave not being alternating.

I wouldn't be surprised if Super7 is in the process of renegotiating terms of the Turtle license with Viacom/Playmates and keeping their cards close to their chest. The delay may potentially be good news. |

They seem to be really backing off the pre-orders. It could be an "in stock" ordeal like the Joe ultimates are now going to be (which will like be a bunch of re-tooled repaints for now on). I honestly think Rat King will be the last new character in the 80's TMNT lineup as they don't seem to want to invest in the tooling much anymore or do pre-orders

Seeing in-hand photos of Wave 11 show up.
Rat King is MASSIVE (he looks down at Shredder and is almost a full head taller than Casey) and it looks like he's got a nice wash all over his body. Ninja Nomad Leo has less re-use than I expected. I thought most of his stuff was just swiped from Sewer Samurai, but they ALL look to be newly sculpted - like his swords and sandals. I also think his knee and elbow wraps are from Punker Don, while the body is Wave 2 Leo again. I'm guessing everything from Wave 5 is MIA due to the factory changes. Battle Damaged Foot Soldier got a bunch of dry brushing, and some new pieces. I really hope his alt heads can be swapped with the original one because I got way too many of those and would love a "clean" Alpha One. Rappin' Mikey looks good, really like how the hat construction works. I really hope his heads are compatible with the base figure because I really like the extra one as a "serious" Mikey option. Oh, and allegedly his medallion chain is too short and barely fits. |
