Yeah, Eastman mentioned the Batman Begins thing. What Bry posted above is pretty much what I know about it. I would LOVE to read this thing!

I could be wrong about this, but from what I understand, some writer(s) were brought in to lighten up the Fusco draft (maybe Marcum/Holloway). Once Nemec and Appelbaum were brought on, it was a page one rewrite.

Wasn't the movie going to be loosely based on City at War? Karai was supposed to be in it and Shredder would be "dead" from the beginning of the movie.

Imagine if they went with the original directors with Peter Laird was executive producer? We would have gotten a billion times better movie than what we got.

It makes me sad knowing what could have been.
Yeah, I actually agree with you on this. The 2014 film was such a wasted opportunity. It's things like this that makes me wish Laird never sold the rights to the franchise to Nick.

Dude, you were right! I have GOT to read this script. From Laird's blog--

"Actually, I just talked to Gary Richardson today about this subject, and he recalls that the proposed movie was NOT going to be a direct sequel to the 2007 "TMNT", but instead was going to be a sequel to the first live-action movie, and -- as he remembers -- ignoring movies 2 and 3. That could have been fun! -- PL"

You've got me whimpering like a puppy over here. I would have LOVED something like that.

It was rumored for a single day, if that, before being confirmed as fan art. I'll give you that.

Viacom is the worst thing to happen to the turtles, no matter how bad the post-fad or the laird years got they were better than the best Viacom has been. 2012 is all they have to show for it really, and even then it's not a masterpiece, I'd rank it below 2k3 and 1987 even if it's not a bad show.

Reading this makes me sad haha. This is exactly what I've been hoping for for years. I thought that's what we were going to get a few years ago when the "more mature Netflix series" rumor started going around.

I wonder if the plan would have been to use this script as a base to form the series had it come to fruition. Maybe we'll get it someday.

I asked John Fusco about his script on Twitter the other day, but he just shared what we already knew: Kevin liked it, inspired by Dark Knight, too dark for Paramount.
