I read those pages when they were first posted, but upon seeing today's updated, I was hyped beyond belief.

In my over-excitement, I forgot about Leo drinking that stuff and thought that this was gonna be the grand final battle

No problem, that grand final battle will come but I have something else in mind on how that battle will go.

I left this page as raw looking as possible, to really give the impression of Leo's spirit being in the void between life and death.

Great choice to include Splinter, I wasn't expecting him (You designed him pretty well too).

The turtles better get Leonardo back into his normal self soon, as they're gonna need him for the upcoming battles.

I like the choice to separate Leo from a regular turtle, have him in spirit rather than stuck in a regular turtle body, I mean you could use either but that was an interesting take.

Also like where you throw in a random colour page among the black and white.

He won't stay a spirit very long and he won't stay a regular turtle very long either.

The one spoiler I can give you guys about what's going to happen is that I took inspiration from the Image comic series.

Yeah, it sure is!

When drawing the scenes and thinking of the dialog, I always try to hear the lines in the actors' voices.

I certainly nailed Sean Astin's deadpan delivery here.

I'm sorry that updating this story took longer than anticipated, that miserable heatwave sapped me from all my energy and inspiration.

Anyway, locking him outside the lab isn't going to hold Mikey back from witnessing Leo's rebirth

In the IDW comics, Old Hob said to Slash that a Mutation feels like going through a sausage maker, you go in one thing and come out something completely different.

I liked that analogy and so I decided to use it here.

No unveiling of the new Leo yet but it'll come sooner than you think.

What better way to introduce the new Leonardo than to have him a in dynamic pose in the NYC skyline.

This is also a salute to Mark Bagley's Spider-man comics, which I absolutely loved.

I had the actor Hiroki Narimiya in mind when coming up with Human Leo. He played Ukiha in the movie "Azumi"


In this scene from "Azumi", the sensei takes his ten students and tells them to pair up with who they consider to be their best friend. After the students did so, The sensei goes "As an assassin, you must not get personal feelings get into the way of your mission, now face your face best friend and KILL HIM!" Ukiha is the one on the far left of the line up of the students and he's also the first to carry out the order of the sensei.

Ukiha is the silent character of the bunch, he doesn't speak much but he knows everything what's going on around him. His way of fighting reflects that, he's not a berserker, uses his katana in very direct and well aimed strikes.

That's the kind of Leo I envisioned for my story.
