If Kevin Eastmen was the one who thought of sending the turtles to high school then I am convinced that he has ran out of good ideas and will only be crapping on his own franchise in the future. Just like with what Akira did with Dragonball Super.

Kind of like the Total Drama series.

Rented it last night on streaming. Both threads seem to have spoilers so I’ll just post here.

I thought it was pretty good. I liked the overall message of accepting others and how they got there. Humor was decent. Art style is cool but some of the “doodle” designs were too exaggerated. Some stuff was too smashed and bent out of shape but most was fine and looked unique.

Spoiler:
I have no problem with them going to high school but I think they should have saved it for the sequel. It all happened a little too fast. I think a better outcome would have been if the city celebrated them...and then the sequel could have them working to integrate themselves into the public. Or time jump a little and explain how April helped them get into school.

I’m disappointed the Pizza Van was barely used. It did not even shoot pizza or anything. Actually the turtles using pizza does not make sense cause they’d be wasting their favorite food. Maybe it could be burnt or moldy pizza Anyway I thought they’d customize a delivery van and use it to go after the mutants.

I like that they stayed friends with the other mutants. Especially Bebop and Rocksteady. It’ll be interesting having them naturally be good guys. Ya know cause they didn’t change sides here. They were secretly against being evil and turned on Superfly once the turtles stood up for them.

He's a cheerleader for all things TMNT the last decade. He praises the worst ideas, and comes up with equally terrible ones. I love the guy and what he created, but just because his name is attached doesn't mean it's gonna be good.

Has the man ever openly disliked anything TMNT related?

I see, so he is exactly like Akira Toriyama then.

He originally approved of it until he actually saw it. The movie was so bad that it made him want to start Dragonball Super. Akira and his team had a lot of bad ideas while creating Super like the over abundance of transformations and making Goku even dumber than he originally was, but none of his bad ideas come close to the abomination that is Dragonball Evolution. I am sure Akira enjoyed the money he got from it though.

Eastman was always the more malleable of the two when it came to creativity. Laird was the stickler on that front and it's really something that the two meshed together well enough to make such a huge IP. I guess that's what you call balance. It seems when they work together everyone's happy (or happier) with the end product, but when only one has the reins (or the executive equivalent), a couple horses get loose and there's an outcry.

I still haven't seen the new flick yet, so I'm not going to pass judgment on it, nor do I intend to just swallow Eastman's endorsement. Though I will say that I never expected this to be a blockbuster and would have been genuinely surprised if it did. So far, from what I've seen thus far (trailers, screenshots, plot synopses), the only thing I don't like is Donatello's voice. If this movie is supposed to focus on the "teenage" part of the title, then they could have had his proverbial balls drop at the very least.

(first post, Hello )

watched this for the first time today, I thought the animation and fight scenes were nice but overall not my favorite turtles movie, It was pretty much what I expected from the trailers and leadup to the movie. Basically a kids tmnt film thats mostly action/comedy with lots of references to past 87s tmnt, not what my go-to tmnt would be and I'm a bit annoyed that this is supposedly going to be the next cartoon for awhile but whatcha gonna do.
Spoiler:

Personally I feel like the ending of the movie would've been better if the turtles were not accepted by the humans for saving the city and that even if they're not accepted they did the right thing stopping supafly from killing all the humans.
Sort of changes the message from 'doing the right thing will cause people to accept you' to 'doing the right thing may not lead to acceptance but it should be done anyways.'

who cares what a bunch of random people think anyways ¯\_(?)_/¯

Hello!

See, you would write a better script for the movie than Seth Rogen and his crew because you get what TMNT is all about, as does the rest of us here.

Eastman isn't involved in any serious capacity on this or anything since he sold his rights back in 2000. They just like to trot him out to say nice things about current Turtle product by involving him on a surface level here and there.

Oh, I know. That's why I said, "executive equivalent." He's more a consultant or executive producer (very loose version of the term); in the room, but not involved in the big decisions. A Stan Lee type.

What's with that metal tin can look anyway? If somebody painted you yellow or red you would look like something that I would lift my leg up and do my business on. Somebody needs to throw you in the recycle bin for good you aluminum can wearing baffoon. I'll make a mess on the floor and rub your scarred ugly face in it. You don't scare me. Your foot soldiers can't beat my gangsters. Go get your f'n shinebox!!!
