Any additional thoughts on Hoon Lee being the voice of this incarnation of the Shredder?

It's literally just the crazy Foot Recruit girl with no other visual association other than realizing, after saying her friends call her Casey, that the weapon in her hand had broken into a hockey stick shape.

Interesting choice, esp with Karai as his daughter and supposed to be the ancestors of this Splinter and TMNT.

I was able to watch the Final online if you know where to look.

Everything returns back to normal it seems. And out of the blue Splinter tells Leonardo he's the leader now. And it ends right there. Such a strange way to end a series final. No closure what's so ever.

The creators had to rush it as the season was cut to 13 episodes during production. Nickelodeon only gave them a few weeks to get the final done but apparently the writer who wrote the final, did it in one night.

The creators said on Twitter that they had it planned out for 3 seasons, they even said that Karai was going to be in a lot more episodes.

This is one of the creators twitter, https://twitter.com/RCoA he/she been tweeting about the show.

Also don't forget the Netflix movie is coming out next year.

There were other episode ideas too that the creators have said on twitter, one of them was a episode about Mikey and Raph crash Ghostbears wedding. there was also a episode that Leo, Donnie and Raph get turned into toddlers and Mikey becomes a big brother.

Those all sound like episode ideas you'd see on FW. In fact, there was already an episode of that show where Mikey had to take care of his brothers when they turned to turtle tots. Why do that again?

Which makes it understandable that it was cut short. Because if this stuff isn't creating enough appeal to bring in much profit, then it's just burning money.

Maybe the reason why the episodes for the 2nd season was cut short. Because they had to balance the money they are spending for that animated movie on Netflix.

To me, Hoon Lee has been the major highlight of the entire show. He did a great Shredder voice, and might even be my favorite Shredder voice so far.
If anything should survive from Rise, it should be this casting choice.

What's interesting is this version of Oroku Saki started out as a good guy until something took over his body and corrupted him.

*cough* Kind of an unintended metaphor there for this show.

Now I'm wondering if the crew behind the upcoming movie did some major rewrites and changes to the plot. Like will it be different from what they initially intended?

Maybe? Anyone else remember the quotes from a maker of it in articles from last year (from a convention or something?) that claimed the Netflix movie would be sort of a link between seasons? Haven't been able to track down those articles again. But obviously any connection between 1st and 2nd seasons didn't pan out. Perhaps it was intended to connect 2 and 3, had a third happened?

There's still that not-mutagen element they were after in the finale that I guess came from that dead Krang (or from its location), so I'm kind of wondering if those things were/are setting up the movie.

Yeah, the entire "movie" project is clearly just an piece of obligation at this point. They promised it, so they'll make it, but it's going to be completely different in function and purpose than whatever it was originally intended to be.

They'll probably just cram in as many unused elements from the cancelled episodes as possible and try and form a coherent 90-minute narrative out of it. Although anyone who can endure this type of "humor" for a 90-minute stretch is made of sterner stuff than I, that's for sure.

The Fred Wolf cartoon did that first. How more unoriginal can these hacks get?

I really loved the ending. They did a lot in the 39 episodes they had, the 11 minute format helps, I think. But I was surprised how much I cared for the new characters, from Draxum to Big Mama, great to even see Todd. I am hopeful they will continue this in a comic series (like Avatar) as it is a) quicker and cheaper to produce b) could be an easy band-aid for the angry fans.

The show wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but it did work hard to be different and unique, and I think it did a good job of that.

As a toy guy myself, I am forever going to be mad we havent got the majority of the show's characters, but that's life I guess. Happy we got Mayhem early on.

Yup. In the last few seconds of the series. Not kidding.

Splinter just calls him "Blue" again and announces he's leader now. Turtles look shocked. Roll credits.

This did not accompany Leo showing any initiative to step up or any reason for Splinter making that statement.
