That's usually how love in anime turns out. Anime is the total opposite of American tv when ti comes to love. You'll be hard pressed to find an american movie or tv show with a hinted couple that doesn't end up together or kissing at the end of the movie, while in anime.... it's very rare that you'll see a couple confessing or kissing at the end. .

Also Ash hasn't been portrayed as a rookie since the end of Johto to be honest. He's been competent since Hoenn barring the Unova arc which was more of a semi-reboot of the anime. |

Goku also paved the way for the clueless male hero who just loves fighting/battling, has little to no interest in love or females, and is a "loveable idiot" etc. Almost all shonen male protagonists are based on Goku who started the trope back in 1986. |

No, most Japanese dudes are not otakus. In fact, being an otaku is quite frowned upon in Japan. Anime really isn't that popular in Japan as a whole asides from a small number of series. Popular anime in Japan is mainstream stuff such as shounen(One Piece, DBZ, etc.) among kids/teens or Miyazaki films. Most anime simply airs really late in the night(as in graveyard schedules) and aren't available in the entire country, afaik. Japan has a love birthrate, yes, but I'm sure people have se there just like anywhere else. Anime characters are just that, fictional characters. |

Most Japanese men are otaku's and they prefer anime girls to real life girls. Some of them even have wedding's getting married to their "waifu's" in Japan. There's actually articles of this online if you want to search for it and read about this stuff. |

Japan has over 100M people. So obviously they know what sex feels like. Low birthrates are prolly related to the economy bursting in the 90s and the country not having really recovered from it to this day. Plus, it is quite a stressful society and couples seem to stop having sex fairly soon into their marriage. And besides, many other developed countries struggle with low birthrates. I'm aware of that, but that doesn't equal "most men". I can easily find american and european otaku losers on the internet as well. |

Most of the 100million people are people aged 50 and over. Japan has a very old population of seniors, those people aren't having children (obviously).
There are more old people in Japan than young people. That's why Japan is so concerned about the low birthrate, once all the old fogey 50-90 year olds die off, there won't be as many new young people to replace them. There was an article that just from 2010-2016...Japan's population dropped by about 5 million. |

Also, if you do some research you'll notice that USA and lots of European countries have very high divorce rates and people marry later and later. |

Its Japan, what can we expect? They are the ones who created the term, "otaku" and "waifu" after all.

Anime and video games are the biggest exposure westerners have to Japan, but at the same time it also sorta gives it a bad reputation, especially certain anime. |
