Andreas Brehme has passed away

German former soccer player Andreas Brehme has passed away. He was born in Hamburg on 9 November 1960, and played at senior level between 1978 and 1998 as a defence player, before becoming a coach.

He won the German Federal Soccer League with FC Bayern during the 1986–1987 season, and with FC Kaiserslautern during the 1997–1998 season. With FC Internazionale Milano, he won the Italian Serie A during the 1988–1989 season.

With Team West Germany, he won the FIFA Soccer World Cup played in Italy in June and July 1990. In the final game at the Rome Olympic Stadium, he scored the winning goal at a penalty kick.
