TMNT in BR comic Captain Ninja (translation released)

Edit: Translation is done! Get it here: http://opentrain.199xchan.org/?p=283

In Brazil there is a character named Captain Ninja, who jumps around from magazine to magazine and comic book to comic book. He used to star in comics in gaming mags, this is (most of) a story featuring the TMNT from one of those magazines. There are at least two pages missing, I believe.

If anyone feels like buying a copy, you can pick up the book this is from, titled "AS AVENTURAS DO CAPITÃO NINJA" for fairly cheap, other than the shipping from Brazil. It's a collected version of Captain Ninjas's 90s game comics, we've previously translated one of them over on the Opentrain blog if you like the character.

We'd like to translate this whole book, especially the TMNT part, but the only scan around has missing/corrupt pages. So if someone does buy a copy, we'd gladly accept some new scan donations.

Anyway, enjoy.

That's hilarious, Cryomancer! It very much has a classic Konami video game feel to it!

Heh, when Donatello got "killed," Leonardo respawned to take his place. Classic.

What kind of sites sell these? I'm not very familiar with the market on South America TMNT merchandise.

Back when we were scouting some BR comics to pick up while my translator was in Brazil, my other translator sent me this link re: this particular comic.

Couldn't tell you how to use it, or if that's still active, but that's what I got.

Ah, so was this the first issue in a series? I wonder how many issues of "Graphic Games Adventures with Captain Ninja" were published? It looks hilarious if you are a 90s gaming veteran!

Oy, yeah, I give it my vote of solidarity! Looks like they based him off his appearance in the first NES game, which consequently was inspired by his original Mirage appearance. On second thought, those eyes look like they took him straight outta TMNT #1!

Well, I know at least some of the contents of that book were first printed in the magazine "Gamers", which the first issue of that had the Alien 3 one we did previously. Far as I know, this book contains all of these particular type of Captain Ninja comic, but I can't be sure, yeah. It's got Aliens 3, Jurassic Park, Ecco, TMNT, and several one-page Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter comics.

Interestingly, Captain Ninja himself also has a "90s serious" three part comic series:

and also other cartoon crossovers, appearances in Roly Playing Game materials, and is even part of a team of BR comic characters called "UFO Team". He gets around like crazy. I think he works with TMNT oddly well, and could work in either a OT or Mirage type setting.

And yeah, Shredder is pretty badass in this. Like April too.

edit: Badass looking. Still gets his ass kicked. Just like TMNT #1!

edit2: brb recoloring stuff from this for the recolor thread

I just realized that "Mutant Warriors" was an international title for the Tournament Fighters video game series! Yet another Konami reference! Do you think Mikey and Raph might have appeared on the missing page? I'm guessing they must have been "shell-shocked" by Bebop and Rocksteady.

Scans of Captain Ninja #1-3 in Portuguese available there. I can't read them, but there is a definite Bisley feel to the artwork. This very much needs a scanlation treatment. Would OpenTrain be open to those?

No luck finding a complete version of the Adventures of Captain Ninja one-shot yet, though.

EDIT: higher quality scans of Captain Ninja #1-2 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?v0qcue379ebe0

I've got his miniseries and UFO Team scans, it's just a matter of getting my translator motivated.

Looks like this thread has motivated him after all! Glad I posted this then, haha. Expect Captain Ninja miniseries release from Opentrain...at some point! Today I need to tackle cleaning more Super Turtles though.

Probably not.

His backstory in most of the game comics is that his girlfriend is Chun-Li. But he still hits on all the girls he encounters anyway.
