Yeah, the fact that we knew that weeks ago makes me think this has to be referring to him in an acting capacity. He's not playing the trombone as a director.

Also it seemed pretty adamant from the beginning that they weren't going to bring back many... or ANY... other TNG crew. I can buy a cameo from Data/B4, but Riker, too?

The rumors are true... Kurtzman is OUT as showrunner of STP and Michael Chabon is IN.

Interesting that the official announcement seems to rub things as to suggest the show is just now getting a showrunner (yeah, after they've already shot 4 episodes) and it's Michael Chabon and not the reality, which is Kurtzman has been ousted and replaced.

Not true! Janeway gave him a field promotion to Lt., about halfway through the series, iirc. Why do you not like him? He was a good foil to Tom's "black sheep" persona early on, especially in keeping him from getting into TOO much trouble, and he proved himself a valusble asset many times over. His only major "flaw" was going after women who were "unattainable/wrong". He was a bit introverted and shy, but had a lot of heart. Mind, he always struck me as more "guy-friend" rather than "boyfriend" material, but any of the Voyager ladies would have been lucky to get him.

I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong.

Kim does not make lieutenant in the 7 years on screen. He's an ensign in "Caretaker" and he's an ensign in "Endgame." He never gets a second pip on his collar.

I don't HATE him per se, but I find him boring. Dude plays the clarinet for fcvk's sake. He's in some good episodes, but overall, he registers at about a Geordi LaForge level for me. Except Geordi was at least played by LeVar Burton.

Are you sure? I've been watching the series in order almost every night for about two years now. They have aired every episode like four or five times now. I could swear he got promoted- even if it wasn't "official. Tom did too.

And what's wrong with the clarinet? Heck, Picard played flute, and iirc, Riker played trombone on occasion. Even Tuvok played that Vulcan harp.

Tom got DEMOTED first, though. For that episode with the underwater civilization; he broke the Prime Directive, got some people killed even though he was trying to do the right thing, and Janeway busted his ass. And later she promoted him back to lieutenant j.g.

Harry, alas, NEVER got promoted. Which is bull$hit.

Nothing's wrong with the clarinet; I just needed something to make fun of. I don't remember much else about him, except for his girlfriend Libby in that one episode where a timewarp kept him off Voyager and he was never lost in the Delta Quadrant, and got in trouble for associating with Tom Paris. Or something like that.

And he captained the Nightingale one time, in Season 7. Now THAT was a good Harry episode.
