I wonder why they went with Captain Pike for this instead of any other Star Trek character? I know they're making a Captain Pike show and he was the captain for STD season 2, I just figured it would make more sense if they went with Michael or any of the other prominent characters from STD, considering that show is already out. Hell, the Lower Decks characters might even work better.

Yes, Paramount+ is really just CBS All Access being rebranded in light of the merger. If you get CBSAA now you can already stream the show, then I assume it'll just change the name later on and nothing changes.
