I had no idea "Chess" was even considered a "toy." Rubber ducks work well for kids in a bathtub with nothing better to use, I guess.

They mentioned that longevity was an important factor, and the truth is that the TMNT have only been known for 25 years which seems like alot to someone in their 20's or 30's, but to older people and in the grand scheme of things, is small compared to the other two. I'd imagine before video games, chess was widely popular with kids and with all of the strategy and many reference books listing chess along with its champions, can't be denied a spot. I myself first played chess when I was about eight via my grandmother's set and didn't do that great, but found that strategy is just as important, and there are many video games that involve chess as well. Rubber Ducks were around well before Ernie made it famous. They are household staples in young children's bathtub toys, and have included news stories as bizarre as a bunch of duckies crossing the ocean! But what's the point of the poll? To have simply a tiebreaker or just one extra vote to the panel of 23? Well, there's always next year (and the year after).
