Would you like constructed languages in TMNT?
With constructed languages, I'm talking about something like the Klingonese language from Star Trek.
Such languages would be spoken by species like the Utroms, the Kraang, Triceratons, Neutrinos, Turtleoids or the Humanoid Federation. I'm not talking about just a few lines, but rather full-developed dictionaries and grammar structures. |

That could be a neat idea, but maaaaan, I'm done learnin'. Every time I cram something new in, something old falls out.
I already lost the name of the chick who played the Tool Time Girl on "Home Improvement". Next might be the win/loss results of all the "WCW Halloween Havoc" PPVs. I can't take a chance on that. I'm out.

Well, that sounds nice on paper but no one is ever going to go through that much trouble for TMNT.

I said this before but it appears that the Federation's status as "aliens" is a retcon, as they have names that are clearly of earthly origins. I guess giving them a language of their own might dispell some confusion?
Anyway, there's honestly not that much reason for constructed languages in fiction other than it being "fun". Since the work will mostly be in a real world language anyway, some added sentances in a fictional one seems a little pointless. |

My gut reaction is no. I like basic good story telling focused around the turtles. Keeping it simple and to the point as much as possible.

TMNT ain't Star Trek or Lord of the Rings. Ain't worthy of the investment and intelligence.

^ Yeah, I'm in with that. If you're going to have aliens, do more than them just having better technology than humans.
It doesn't have to be developed fully, just a rough conlang. Maybe spoken among each other when they don't want to say things to the turtles. Or some individuals having some confusion with English. (IDW does at least depict Utroms speaking their own language <But like this>. And then being confused why they switched to "Earth" English. Is there some other English we aren't aware of?)

Exactly because they have advanced tech. Like intergalactic google translate chips implanted in their teeth. And have evolved into only using verbal communication with outsiders. When talking among themselves it’s all non verbal.

in one episode of the 1987 cartoon, Raphael even makes fun of Usagi being able to speak perfect english despite being from feudal Japan in an alternate universe

I don't mind it as long as there's subtitles and it's only for when the TMNT don't have a universal translator style device.

While I agree TMNT is neither of those things, i do think the franchise should be allowed to haves stories with suitable depth and scale, along with being treated with the same respect
