Previously, we have had a real problem with people spamming in the introduction threads, so from now on, all introduction threads that are two or more weeks old will be locked. Existing members are welcome (and encouraged) to greet new members, but please try to keep it to one reply per thread if you're not the one who started the thread.

An update to the guidelines: Instead of being closed after 14 days, introduction threads will now be closed after 10 days. Also, to prevent spam, the moderation staff reserves the right to lock introduction threads if they go too far off-topic, even if they are not 10 days old yet.
